I've liked Karnezis playing through the middle this preseason. He's found the ball and used it well. Will he get much time in the guts in the season proper do you think?

Jurrah never made it to Port Adelaide

Was over an hour late to training the other day and Port won't be picking him up in either PSD or Rookie Draft.

List Mgmt. Trade: Geelong trades Round One compensation and No. 55 selection to Gold Coast for Josh Caddy

What are people’s basis for saying they are “Unhappy with his output in 2012?” Is it solely because he finished low on Gold Coast’s best and fairest count?? In his first real season at AFL level among fellow rising stars his rankings were: 3rd for inside 50s and contested possessions, 4th for...

    Retired 36. Bradley Hartman (2013- 2013)

We have a scout that was heavily involved with Glenelg when we got Mackie from there. Had a break for a while and then joined Sturt which resulted in us getting GHS and now we have this fella from there as well. Hard to say if all three were the result of this scout's recommendation but if so...

Competitions The Contest - predict Geelong's National Draft selections

We don't need anyone though. All of our lines are strong at the moment. Therefore making the best available the most suitable.

Competitions The Contest - predict Geelong's National Draft selections

I think it's irrelevant to suggest "What we need" as, with this draft's strong top 30, Wells will more than likely be choosing best available.

Apparently for most clubs it wasn't "Last minute news". Emma Quayle has said that most clubs knew about it for a long time. If Gold Coast don't take him then Fremantle definitely will. Won't get to us.

List Mgmt. Geelong at the 2012 AFL National Draft (selections Nos. 16, 77 and 92)

Stringer won't last past GWS' pick 12. Likely top 7 is Whitfield, O'Rourke, Plowman, Toumpas, Wines, Stringer, Menzel. Cal Twomey tweeted last night that there's a whisper GWS to pass on Brodie Grundy and slip to us. I think it is unlikely though and we'll most likely get Lonergan or Garner.

List Mgmt. Geelong at the 2012 AFL National Draft (selections Nos. 16, 77 and 92)

So who are we taking with pick 79? There's been chat on here about Sully getting picked up but I don't see it. I think Wells has a development-type in mind for a later pick, someone like Tipungwuti or Emmanuel Irra.

    Troy Menzel

Tippett has not nominated for the ND so he will get picked in the PSD. Looks like Menzel is a certain top6 pick now but Jake Stringer a genuine chance of falling to us at p16.

List Mgmt. Geelong at the 2012 AFL National Draft (selections Nos. 16, 77 and 92)

I don’t believe Melbourne will lose their picks in this year’s draft and I expect both Stringer and Menzel to be gone by our first pick. I see it going something like this: 1. GWS – Lachlan Whitfield 2. GWS – Jimmy Toumpas 3. GWS – Jonothan O’Rourke 4. MELB – Brodie Grundy 5. WBD – Jake...

Competitions The Contest - predict Geelong's National Draft selections

Would love Mayes, best kick in the draft by far. Unfortunately, I think he'll be gone in the top 10, most likely taken by Port at pick 7.

Competitions The Contest - predict Geelong's National Draft selections

Pick 16 - Kristian Jaksch Love him. Good size, takes a very strong mark and his skills are top notch. Would love him here. Pick 79 - Anthony Tipungwuti Has a bag of tricks and is an extremely talented and creative player. Question marks over his fitness and is a strong chance to be available...

    Opinion 2013 preseason best 22

FB: Rivers, Lonergan, Kelly HB: Murdoch, Taylor, Enright C: Mackie, Johnson, Duncan HF: Varcoe, Podsiadly, Bartel FF: Motlop, Hawkins, Chapman 1R: McIntosh, Selwood, Christensen INT: Vardy, Menzel, Caddy, Stokes IMO Rivers is certainly in our best 22 and will be a very important player. I...

Traded Trade: McIntosh to Geelong for pick 36

Definitely a win-win situation for mine. Geelong get a 1st ruck for the next 2-4yrs allowing Simpson/Vardy to improve or to draft a new ruck man and develop him. North get a nice pick for an ageing, albeit quality, 1st ruck that's surplus to their needs.
  23. J

    Geelong's strategy?

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the final margin 16pts? In contrast to the 1/4 time margin that's hardly one big whisker.
  24. J

List Mgmt. Geelong at the 2012 AFL National Draft (selections Nos. 16, 77 and 92)

I very much doubt we will trade one pick for two in return. It just doesn't make any sense this year. I think Wells will be holding on to p15 very tightly.
  25. J

List Mgmt. Mitch Brown up for trade

I can't see a deal getting done here. Brown is important to our future and we've put a great deal of development into him. We'll never be paid what he's worth to us and therefore a deal won't get done.
  26. J

List Mgmt. Geelong at the 2012 AFL National Draft (selections Nos. 16, 77 and 92)

Plowman will definitely be gone by our pick. I think it would be a good idea to get a KPD with our first pick though, with Lonergan aging, Scarlett gone and the potential exit of Brown (who will only ever be a third tall down back anyway). I'd be very happy snaring Kristian Jaksch...

List Mgmt. Mitch Brown up for trade

Four years with us is probably long enough for a first round pick to prove his worth. Adelaide have a bit to offer I think with some good young players but Freo are in a better position in terms of draft picks with 16, 37 and 56.
  28. J

    Opinion 2013 preseason best 22

As our list stands at the moment: FB: J.Hunt, Lonergan, Kelly HB: Mackie, Taylor, Enright C: Varcoe, Bartel, Duncan HF: Johnson, Podsiadly, Motlop FF: Menzel, Hawkins, Chapman 1R: West, Caddy, Selwood INT: Vardy, Christensen, Stokes, Smedts If we get McIntosh I think he'll be #1 ruck and...

List Mgmt. Geelong at the 2012 AFL National Draft (selections Nos. 16, 77 and 92)

Personally, I don't believe we will use p15 to select a player based on needs, I think we will select the best available. Although, I know we sort-of went 'needs' with Harry Taylor. This draft is very strong for it's mid-small sized players, not so much key position players. As I said earlier...

List Mgmt. Geelong at the 2012 AFL National Draft (selections Nos. 16, 77 and 92)

I believe Garlett has said he wants out of WA, don't quote me on that though. He would be a good get if we could curb his off-field behaviour. I'd like to see us get Sam Colquhoun from SA. He averaged 28+ disposals from half back in the champs and has a good head on his shoulders. Would be a...
