I think you're missing my point.
Bizzell was fantastic last year, and did the impossible and had an even better season THIS year. 2002-2003 are two brilliant seasons, if I can count.
Yze is a better kick, more consistent and gets more of the ball than Smith. Has Joel averaged over 20...
Bizzell was excellent last year, even Geelong supporters will tell you that.
Yze has averaged well over 20 disposals a game since 1998 and is close to our best player. Smith is not much better than a Matthew Whelan.
First comment - 7th in the B&F, smokie for AA selection, being talked about as the recuit of the season. If that isn't a good year then I don't know what is.
Unless Smith has grown 10cm in the past month then I would select our number 1 ruckman ahead of him.
First comment - Didn't watch much footy in 2002 did you?
Second comment - Yze would definitely be picked before Smith.
I'd even select White, Robertson, Bruce and Heffernan before him.
He is 19, same as Waite.
There is no doubt that Waite is talented, but he has a long way to go if he is to be placed amongst the likes of Riewoldt, Brown, Judd and Coughlan.
Waite hasn't done all that much.
In his 2nd year of AFL footy, he was averaging just over 10 possessions a game and was pretty much a full time member in the Carlton side.
Compare that to Steven Armstrong, who averaged 13 disposals a game despite spending a great deal of time on the bench...
Just to clear things up, I am almost certain we are paying between $20,000-$40,000 of his salary. Not much.
Anyway, I supported the trade from the word go. Some Melbourne fans were dirty with the club, but they seem to have gone a bit quiet after his average Finals series.
Anyway, we ended...
I'd be surprised if Nick Smith didn't become a dominant CHF. His hands are close to the best I have seen in Melbourne colours.
Not being biased either. Most Adelaide locals on here really rate him too.
I'm talking about 3, maybe 4 seasons longer.
You have obviously written Holland off already. Why can't you give him a chance? He might regain his 2001 form, and play on for another 6 years.
It's pretty obvious you didn't like Heffernan from Day 1, and you seem to be going down the same...
He might be ready now... but if we play him at CHF for 22 weeks over the next (say) 6-7 seasons, we might see an early retirement.
Better off playing him in a FP, which is why we recruited Dutchy. To play CHF (or CHB).
To give us 5 years of service at CHF-CHB, helping us avoid burning out Miller and Smith by playing them too early.
When Miller and Smith peak... a Premiership could well be on the way.
Which is why we should avoid playing them in Key Positions week in, week out when they're not ready...
Hands off. ;)
I reckon Carlton won't take him at 2, Walker or Bradley will go there. Tenace will probably go between 4-6, although I think he is better than that.
Re: Re: Is it possible...
Sylvia should be our number 1 priority.
But if we can get them both... along with CJ, it could well go down as the best ever National Draft for the MFC.
Are you saying that Bizzell would be a waste of time if we didn't win a Premiership before he retires?
What if Holland wins our B&F next year? Will you change your mind then? I guess you won't as you can't admit that you were wrong with Robertson.
For us to land Colin Sylvia AND Kane Tenace in next months draft?
I know they don't mean a lot, but a lot of Phantom Drafts on here predict this to happen.
Apparantly Carlton want Walker, which leaves us Sylvia at 3. Bulldogs are keen on Ray which means Tenace is still there at 5!
I...
