    Worst Premiers of the 90's

I won't go on for too long about this, because, as I said, it's my favourite season as a Bomber supporter. However, we finished on top with something like 13 and a half wins (I don't have a record book with me, so if I'm wrong, I apologize), which in some years, wouldn't even get you a top 4...

    The Bradman Factor

To say that Tubby Taylor declared so that he wouldn't beat Bradman's record is utter crap. Before stumps on the evening before declaring, he absolutely creamed a few shots, which, unfortunately went directly to fieldsman. A few metres (or feet, even) either side would have seen Bradman's record...

    Worst Premiers of the 90's

I can't believe that Essendon of '93 hasn't got more votes. They really 'stole' that premiership and our great coach, Sheeds' himself, has readily admitted it. When you look at it, you will surely agree, even us Essendon supporters. Hawthorn were no longer the great team they once were...

Who was Australia's last poor fielder?

He batted as well as he fielded. :p Anyway, I once saw him cover drive the great Bob Willis for 4 at Adelaide. The ball pitched a foot outside leg stump. Fortunately Jimmy knew exactly where Willis was going to bowl the ball and he had backed away to square leg and creamed it. What a legend...:p

Who was Australia's last poor fielder?

Jim Higgs, easliy. In fact he was the Aussie Team from the late 70's version of Tufnell. Unfortunately, he was probably before most peoples time on this board.

OK, thanks Nic. We still need to lose a couple more prior to the draft, though.

    Essendon Delistings...Official EFC Release.

There must still be acouple to be de-listed if we want to use all selections up to no. 30 as a minimun. One question: Do Veterans count in your 38 player list, or do you have 38 plus up to two veterans?

    Geelong Delistings

Re: Re: Re: Geelong Delistings That'll upset the Hawks who, we have on good authority, want to use the No 10 selection to pick Toia up.

    Martyn delisted

Yeah, I thought it was Carey, but couldn't remember exactly. But you could probably tell that by the fact I had the wrong draft too. ;)

    Martyn delisted

He was de-listed last year, then North re-drafted him in the pre-season draft (from memory). However, that may have been to put someone else on the Veterans List. But this time, I think it could be the end. He's certainly had a pretty good career, though, IMO.

#1 Draft picks and their success?

You must be a talented lot, you Melbourne supporters. Good to see you know exactly what's going on in your player's heads. I hope you pass this info on to your coaching staff. You may be able to stop next years trend and therefore the usual decline that follows a season where finals are experienced.

    Draft rules

Don't forget that if it is a shallow draft this year ond most clubs only pick up 3 or at the most 4 players, then pick 71 can really end up being a pick in the 50 - 60 range. Still not great, but then Michael Long was a 70+ draftee, I think, as have been a few others good players that have been...

    Explain to me this

Australia has still to play Bangladesh as well, which is a certain series win - in fact 2 as we need to play them home and away. It is Australia's own fault that the points are so close. The ICC wanted to wait a full 5 years until everyone had played each other before awarding the trophy. But...

Who is likely to be in the Pre Season draft?

I'm sure that, aside from salary cap issues, it will depend on who is available. With the number of teams with cap problems this year, I wouldn't like to end up in the pre-season draft. Unless a club has promised you a spot, you could easily be out of the game for a season or longer - well at...

    National Draft Order

I think you'll find that pick 45, our 3rd round pick, has been used to pick up Jobe Watson. 30 is a second round pick. Hope we don't throw confusion amongst the ranks on draft day by actually calling out the player we have in mind for selection 13 when we are using selection 12! :D

    Ess Still Got No Ruckman!!

Maybe not, but we've done alright at the draft table a few times in the past. We'll be OK, but it might take a season or two, but who knows, we picked up a flag in '93 when totally unexpected with a bunch of kids. That may just happen again (if Brisbane leave the competition). ;)

    Richmond Big winners

Yes, blumfield is a Premiership player. And was very close to best on ground in 2000. I think you've done well to pick him up for selection no. 30 in what is supposed to be a weak draft.

    Woewodin a Pie. Official

Only if they're out of contract - otherwise you have to pay them out and declare that in your cap. Anyway, it's just after 2pm, so all deals should be posted shortly.

    Heffernen gone

I think that, chances are, we are going to lose Caracella anyway. Better to get a couple of young players for him and hope we can turn them into good players, then to lose him in the pre-season draft for nothing. It now looks like Blumfield will be off to Carlton and the Heff will be traded...

    Guernsey number project

Once a player has been allocated a jumper number, that's his for the year. On occasions a player may change mid gmae if his jumper is torn or has blood on it and a replacement with the same no is not available, however, this is extremely rare. Players ususally only change if they started with...

    Trade Week for you

Trade week is a pretty exciting week. It's good to see who ends up where and who each club is prepared to part with. I am especially happy that the AFL has decided to put the trade period back to a later and more reasonable date, finally. It was always a disadvantage to the GF teams and to a...

Are you a financial member of your club??

Ive been a paid up member of the Bombers since around 1981. I have also been an AFL Member since 1986. Was running bot memberships until 1992 when the AFL Members got into the Southern Stand at the 'G and we could take out Essendon Club Support, which gave me voting rights. Pay about $350...

Trade Scenarios - Caracella, 27th pick for Gardiner ?

Would solve a pretty big ruck problem, IMO. And if Caracella is reluctant to re-sign with the Bombers, gets him off the list. I don't think we need players who don't want to play for us. And those who hold the club to ransom for more money, after others have signed up for less then 'market...
