Don't get peoples hopes up... its only of interest for essendon supporters as that they're only covering what essendon does, ie: Who they pick and interviews with those picked, essendons staff and highlights of their players.
I'm sure if enough people write/email/call Foxtel or Ch.7/10 continually and request such a show it would give the broadcaster confidence in a program to be aired... other than their 1hour summary which isn't all that in-depth enough to fix our footy appetite in November.
Out Hislop, In Prismall. Add (hopefully) Hartlett in the draft and Essendon's midfield will have enough strong over the ball midfielders for the future in Lonergan, Myers, Watson and Welsh.
Hopefully Hislop can get his head right and go on and have a good career. Yes it would be a shame if...
Yes. And Geelong are 4-5 years ahead of where Essendon are at the moment. Essendon are rebuilding so players like Jetta, Dempsey and co ARE in our best 22, as shown being named in round 1. No, they're not 'established' players but that because they're young and part of a new coaches structure...
Prior to Brisbanes 2001-03 dream run, a lot of those players played in their dark days where they were smashed every week... Means nothing. Every year is different.
I, and most Essendon supporters should know that we're in a rebuilding phase. Yes we'd like to win but I'm not expecting us to...
Not saying we're heading for a premiership any time soon but if we were to field a 23 and under side then this is what we have:
B: Slattery Lee Hislop
HB: Nash Ryder Dempsey
C: Dyson Watson Myers
HF: Davey Gumbleton Houli
FF: Jetta Neagle Monfries
R: Laycok Stanton Winderlich
Int from...
I can't rank 5 but i can make a team with 23 and unders for arguement sake:
B: Slattery Lee Hislop
HB: Nash Ryder Dempsey
C: Dyson Watson Myers
HF: Davey Gumbleton Houli
FF: Jetta Neagle Monfries
R: Laycok...
Nah it was Leppa... Mal was on Richo. I remember that red hair and those gloves standing on the mark. He tried everything to put him off his kick.. if only he tried that hard trying to stop the mark ::thumbsu:
Probably only Lions supporters rate him highly... he did kick 7 or 8 goals on them i think once but hasn't done much since. He, along with a few kpp this season are on there last chances. He'll need to have a good year to be kept on the list, thats for sure. Tigers are in a transission phase so...
Father/Son selection. Played mainly forward in under 18's. Kicked around 60-70 goals that year but was told his body was much stronger than his opponents which allowed him to push them aside easily.
Came to the club, a bit overweight carrying 'baby fat'. Has had problems with stress fractures...
Don't forget, although Brown is a tall he has the freakish ability to play small. Very mobile and great at ground level. Brisbane is a warm city so most games will be dry and a tall forward will stretch a few backlines provided the Lions midfield also make options running forward.
I missed that episode of Talking Footy with Brennan talking to Leigh Matthews :(
Lions forward line is ok. Its hard to judge how good a team will perform so early before a game has been played. I can't say they have one of the better forward lines because thats a bit unrealistic to say. They...
Great news with Gumby. :thumbsu:
Can't wait to see him play again once fit. The first game I saw of him in the VFL was unbelievable.. he was doing what he liked - when he liked. That was the first or second game last year and then got injured on and off most of the year.
Great Bellchambers...
Essendon did it in '99 without Hird and Lucas all season. They made the prelim on the back of Lloyd and Mercuri, a player who grew with that extra responsibility. Jason Johnson also mssed half the season. All 3 at their prime. So yes, it's very common. Other players take more of a role and come...
You wouldn't be called a supporter then :thumbsd:
Again, more pages of dribble with people knowing nothing about another club. Go directly to page 3 for a read. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200
Nice report.
Fingers crossed Gumby is ok. If his hamstring goes again it might be time to send him overseas for some special treatment ala Rooke (Geel) because its important he gets his body right early and starts building his fitness and strength base up to a level he can compete in the...
This topic may have seemed a good idea and I'm sure the OP would've liked some informative input about his club, but lets be honest here, no opposition supporter really knows much about a club other than theirs no matter how much they claim to do so. There's so much behind-the-scenes info on...
I think Kevin was just trying to make it easier to deal with by saying 'client'.
I think he'll become our next president, and when that happens depends on how our club is fairing on and off the field. I think he hinted in one of his press conferences that he'll come back and get those...
You'd have to say Stanton is top of the list. With the famous number 5 on his back now, he's sure to get the attention of the umpires. He's fitter than ever and with the motivaion to do the number proud, I think Stants is in for a massive year. May not win the Brownlow this year but one day...
If it serves me correctly... you came out and got whoppped by 12 goals and the only hit Hawthorn made was on a 19yr old player on his way off the ground...
Courageous that.
And now Hawthorn use the line "we've won all but one game between the two teams since that incident.. it worked" ...
600k keeps 6 players there, not just two. 600k meant that Brisbane could pay six (for example) of their players an extra 100k each which might have been the 100k the other teams would've offered these players to lure them from Brisbane.
Going on the theory of two players, that would mean...
Or maybe he's confident that the Lions have a lot of improvement in them and that Collingwood played above themselves (by no means an insult), and he used them as the benchmark as an example of how any team is capable of making such an impact from season to season.
IMO I think its a big call...
I've actually done a list like this in an excel spreadsheet where i've rated all the players on different attributes (I think 17 in total) and comprised a list of 'worth' to our team. Unfortunately my personal computer is being fixed so i am unable to share the results with you at this point of...
I can't understand why his kicking is still talked about as being bad. Early in his playing days it was average, maybe due to confidence, but most of last season his kicking was quite good. His passing was spot-on on a number of occasions with both left and right foot.
