Re: will you be booing garry ablett at skilled stadium?
THIS is what makes us better than them.
I'll honestly be ashamed of any Geelong supporter who boos.
Think about what everything the Abletts have done not only for GFC, but for the city of Geelong. It/they have helped it live and breathe...
I never thought a kid who'd played 10-12 matches could so quickly become my favourite player. Well, close to anyway.
As we all know, this kid has something about him.
Yes, he moves and kicks like Stevie J but he's got the ability to jump (as we saw last night) and he's just so super clean -...
Vinum, don't get all defensive, I'm not having a crack at you or angry at Gaz or Pickers - I'm simply stating a fact. As you did above.
You just said yourself, a management group - and as an extension of that its employees - can potentially earn an extra 50K a year should player x choose to...
... Soooooo ... that would mean Pickering would get extra money if Gaz went north, correct?
At the end of the day, an agent can sprout all he likes about "doing what's best for his client", but don't tell me he isn't also thinking about whether he's going to make $50,000 or $100,000 from a...
Guys, I can understand you being upset at this pic.
But there is one thing we probably should remember in all this.
When Gary Snr was reported - and guilty - he'd plead guilty at the tribunal.
Now yes, he may well have deliberately put that pic on the website. Why? Just maybe, for some...
From what I understand, Beams also knows the publican at Birregurra, who isn't a bright chap.
Before yesterday's game, Beams said to the pub owner 'How about for every goal I kick, you shout the bar?'
The owner thought long and hard before saying 'oh noooo, I've think I've been down this...
Agree 100% ... can't believe some people have gone back to trying to look for holes in Byrnesy, whose has surely shown his importance for us over the past 18 months. GF day anyone?
And he was our only legitimate small forward for the first 6 weeks of the year, so he was carrying that role by...
Re: Ablett GC Chatter
Wowsers, I'd love to have your observation skills VC ... what did you notice?
Did he kick a ball 2m to the left of Johnno? Was he running 3m away from the group? I was also at that game and, from memory, Gaz actually warmed up WITH his teammates ... perhaps you had a...
Sorry if I came off as "abbrasive" or like a Hawks supporter before guys.
Seriously, I think we can all agree that's the biggest insult anyone can call another on BF.
Didn't wanna come on your board and throw mud or seem arrogant.
Just saying how I thought it was. I enjoy a good bit of...
No offence Jedi01, as I know we whipped you in September so perhaps your memory of us is a little more at the forefront of the mind.
But don't you remember the hype last year around a team that lost only one game during the home and away season?
The Cats learned the lesson from the year...
Re: Milburn's bump
While the MRP is a lottery these days, the actual bumped look legit.
Looking at the replay Cornes copped his broken schnoz from head to head contact. It seems Dasher's noggin is just harder than Chad's. So I reckon Dasher will be sweet, as contact was fair, or any high...
Not so far left field I don't reckon.
I think he'd be pretty high up the pecking order.
My preferences for life post-Bomber.
1. Kenny - ability to think outside the square. Look at his record wherever he's been. Players love him.
2. Neeld - obviously a good coach as he's Mick's...
Wow, good one ... hope you showed him what a great character you are and told him he was fat as well. Especially after he had the nerve to cheer his team during the game.
On a serious note, I've noticed in recent years how Gazza, Stevie J and, most particularly, Chappie seem to tear you guys a...
Re: Laidler promoted, 5 Delisted
Was going just ok footy-wise I think ... also, not sure if he's as dedicated off the field as he should be. Might not be the bestest influence on some of our younger crop
Re: Mumford wants to be a Swan
Swap first-round picks.
We get pick 6, them 17. Mummy heads north (as much as I don't wanna see it happen).
Far better result than another second-round pick.
Mummy, and I'm pretty sure if we're all feeling this way, the club would know the answer as well.
He's a year younger, far more raw in AFL experience but plays the game with a greater hunger.
Better skills, chaser, tackler, competitor.
I think last year is enough motivation. Harley isn't the type to announce to them just before they run out that it's going to be his last match.
Great news about Dasher ... some have been a bit critical of him this year but I reckon he's been pretty good again :thumbsu:
One huuuuge factor that needs to be considered in all this is Mother Nature.
Earlier in the week I saw Satdee was meant to be cold and drizzly. Is that still the case, anyone?
If that is the case, no offence guys but I think that weighs huuugely in our favour. If it is relatively fine I give...
I reckon a more likely scenario is that Otto actually did an ACL back in April or whenever it was, and that rather than all the hysteria that news likely to create, the club has just been slow-playing these setbacks ... knowing full well they'd be without him all year.
Enright
Has sacrificed his career for the good of his team, and that needs recognition.
He could easily have gone elsewhere for more dollars and become a far 'better' or more-hyped player, ie, played a midfield role. But no, he's stayed loyal. Yes, he's won accolades and been superb doing...
This kind of attitude from a Geelong 'supporter' really disappoints me.
We win, albeit in somewhat ugly fashion, by seven goals, so what do we do? Come up with another 'let's bag Byrnesy' thread. How original.
Yes, we all know he isn't the greatest kick in the side. But sheezus christ, who...
Superbly put ... Which opposition fan doesn't sh*t themselves when Gazza's got it on the run (about to kick it) within 55 of goal??? Basically, you can put down your glasses, as they say ... wherever he is, be it on the boundary or around the arc straight in front. The man is a freak.
Juddy...
Ha, what a stupid post.
I'd like to ask you ... is the Brownlow a midfielders medal? (I'll give you a clue ... the answer startes with a 'y')
Then I'd like to ask you, what position did G Ablett play pre 2007? (Again, it's somewhere forward of the centre ...)
Keep coming with me on this...
Well, we had to get a 3rd rounder minimum, which we did. We simply couldn't let him walk to the pre-season draft and get nuttin, so we did okkkaaaaay.
Now, I'm pumped for the draft. Why? Because we have the best recruiter in the competition.
Watch Wellsy do his work. This is a good draft...
Re: Selwood Out
Seriously, what does it hurt if a couple of blokes don't play?
I also reckon the Cats wouldn't mind using a few mind games - not that they're really into that - by not playing a couple of blokes.
That way, win or lose on Sunday, they know they can be stronger should we play...
Re: Diadk in, Chappy out
Silly title.
Cats would never do a swap like that and (hopefully) you know it.
Jimmy never said "yeah we'll take him".
Last week he said something about how there'd be 15 clubs interested but he never said 'yeah we'll have him'.
Chappy aint going anywhere.
