This just isn’t a reasonable expectation. Especially when you consider it’s school holidays and the Cranbourne/Pakenham/Frankston/Glen Waverley lines all had buses replacing trains tonight. I think everyone’s forgetting just how many people live in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne or just...
Maybe it’s a bit like the cricket and they had people coming in and out throughout the day. I doubt there were 53,000 in there at any one time, there were too many vacant seats. Either way an incredible crowd and something to be very proud of.
Generally, yes.
Collingwood make more per member than any of the other Victorian clubs though. Only West Coast, Fremantle and Adelaide make as much through membership as we do. Richmond may have closed the gap this year given how many more members they had but last time I looked it was a pretty...
That’s a bit lower than I was expecting for this close to Christmas.
It’d be nice if the club gave us regular updates like most if not all other clubs do.
N55 Home games and N33 Away for me. The away area does better atmosphere wise but the home area compensates with current/former players/club officials in close proximity.
I got the N home seats after going on the waiting list for 2 years but as far as away seats went I never heard a peep from the club. I guess that makes sense given the club allocation for away seats on level 2 is quite small.
I think now that the clubs doing this *change your seats* thing like...
The atmosphere on level 1 definitely shits on level 2. Regularly I’ve noticed my friends and I are the only ones around me cheering or screaming for ball - the view can’t be beaten though.
Agreed, I’m sure others probably love level 1 seats but I can’t stand it. I’d actually rather sit up in the nosebleeds than on level 1. Level 2 has been my goal for years.
Thankfully after 3 years I managed N level seating for home games and after 7 years 4 waiting lists and many phone calls...
Absolutely, your decision is completly your own and needs no explanation. Sorry I shouldn’t have used such pointed language. What I meant was I can see why the club is frustrated at missing out to the league it’s a part of and pays taxes to.
Personally my reason for being an AFL member rather...
Fair enough really. From a club perspective that’s what, 13,000ish people they’re only getting $150 from instead of an average of $500+.
I was an AFL Member for years before I switched to being a legends member when I couldn’t make it to as many neautral games and the majority of my family and...
Membership numbers across the league have increased massively in the last 10-15 years. I remember in 2007 it was a big deal when clubs got over 40,000. You said Collingwood didn’t blow everyone out of the water the way Richmond did. In 2011 we had 13,000 more members than the next best. In 2018...
Even in 2018 after winning the flag in 2017 Richmond couldn’t beat Collingwood’s 2011 or 2010 season attendance records. Don’t get caught up in the hype. They barely beat us for attendances this season and they were ‘unbeatable’ at the MCG.
Also, on the topic of the thread. Carlton are still...
He probably shouldn’t have used a player whose openly admitted to suffering from mental health issues this season.
If he’s making stuff up, which I believe he is, Barrett should be black listed by both Brisbane and Collingwood for putting undue pressure on a player both clubs and their fans...
I reckon given their MCC support and their form going into it, the fact the two Melbourne v Geelong games this year were rippers it’ll be high 80’s. Series ticket means you’ll get a fair few neutrals in the AFL members too.
You’ve got to wonder how well Melbourne v Geelong will draw. Any chance Melbourne supporters will come out in crazy numbers after their slumber? What was their highest crowd this season?
Agreed. The club really doesn’t try and build etihad games up as any kind of event. They’re doing that young members thing for the Port game next weekend. No idea why they wouldn’t try and do that this week to pump the crowd up a bit.
It’s a strange thing really, I know a family of 6 that go...
From a Pie to a Pie, can you please stop with this? It's literally ruining the thread.
Just say it's a crap crowd, stop comparing us to them. You and the Richmond people just keep saying the same arguments back and forward constantly and its incredibly annoying. The only people who think the...
It is annoying, i'd be interested to know our numbers. I don't think we released any numbers until the final tally for 2017 and 2016 either so hopefully they let us know an update at the AGM.
Last couple of years you reckon? Seemed okay when we released them for 2017.
Do a quick check and have a look at which clubs make the most revenue from memberships as well if you want to say any of our numbers are worthless.

I'd like to see an actual breakdown on how many members we have in each category. I remember when we were making finals we'd sold out of legends memberships which I think is capped at under 20,000 given we all get Grand Final access. I'd be amazed if we had over 10,000 now - although in saying...
If either North or Hawthorn want to play their home game against us in Tasmania I doubt you'll find many of us arguing. It'd be a strange decision from them given we usually rank in their top 2 or 3 home crowds for the year but eh, more power to them.
I'm also happy for us to play Geelong in...
Not sure how old your Grandfather is but for mine 18 of them were in his lifetime, 12 in my parents and 3 in mine.
The return wasn't too bad though. My Grandfather saw 10 flags, parents have seen 3 and I've seen 1.
Adelaide have also never missed the finals four years in succession. Nor are they forced to play home games at a venue their supporters don't consider their home ground
Since 1997 we've had 4 games below Adelaides lowest ever crowd, 1 of them was at Vic Park in a spoon season and the other 3...
Collingwood don't take the gate from the Ponsford. It's an away game membership area that also holds our social club for both home and away games. As such Collingwood pays the home team a percentage of the revenue gained to cover the loss the home team would miss out on from GA ticket sales...
Seems an interesting mix of potatoes and non potatoes in this thread.
I don't really see why people are saying we don't want to play QB anymore, to me it just sounds like they want to alternate the home team which is entirely fair enough. Both teams have done well from the current arrangement...
Not really though. When was the last time we packed out Etihad against an interstate side? We got more to the game against Port at the G a couple of weeks ago than we did against them in round 1 of 2011 at etihad. We don't like the place.
