At the start of the year I rated a Pass as winning more than losing.
I revised this after the first half of the season to making finals (which at the time was a pretty conservative expectation).
Therefore, FAILURE.
I'd rather look forward than dwell on history, but I've never regarded a mid 3rd-round pick as anywhere near sufficient change for what we gave up last year (not to mention us upgrading their 5th round pick in a true WTAF move).
IMO we gave up too much for Saad who, like Cerra, was OOC...
Posted this take in the Cerra thread, and thought it might be relevant here too.
(All picks subject of course to F/S and Academy moves)
Carlton
- Receive: Adam Cerra (from Freo), #35 (from Geel)
- Lose: #6 (to Freo), #25 (to Geel)
Freo
- Receive: #6 (from Carlton), Jordan Clark (from Geel)
-...
I'd love this to be the case, but doubt it will. Unfortunately we played our hand last year with the Saad deal and now have a reputation as "good to deal with" to continue.
A later pick upgrade and helping them get a player they want helps us to maintain this image without getting screwed (like...
Well that's a whole other argument you can have with Cats fans ;)
The moral of this take is that I hope the three clubs can help each other out with these trades rather than fighting on different fronts.
I've fallen into the trap before of getting sucked into the pissing contests these threads always become, so I'll just leave a take here I've seen elsewhere that also involves Geelong/Jordan Clark, and be done with it.

This comment makes about as much sense as Carlton supporters saying "I'll bet all those Eagles supporters laughing at us for giving Kennedy away are suffering in their jocks now that Harry McKay is shitting on him in the Coleman!"
If we're happily handing over our biggest trade assets for out of contract players (who probably weren't worth that much when contracted) just to look nice, then we're ****ing screwed.
It's both hilarious and sad that while we sit by hoping everyone likes us, the top clubs will continue making...
It never ceases to amaze me how Carlton go from being a "one-man team" to "they'll struggle to pay all their stars in a few years" when a decent player nominates them.
Nor the gullibility of falling for click-bait with the words "reportedly" and "up to" when talking about an athlete's salary.
Not as scummy as expecting your business partners to give in to insulting demands and then bitching to the media when they rightly refuse.
He's right, pick 7 will be involved to do it. Doesn't mean your mob are getting it.
Take their chances with the PSD, and keep a full draft hand while Essendon lose a top-3 B&F player for nothing (or redraft a guy who doesn't want to be there).
It cracks me up how people think Carlton take on all the risk here.
Fair enough - but re: the bolded, I should've been clearer that it would be Carlton giving NM the picks for Brown and not Melbourne. So in such a scenario you'd lose Oliver, gain Wines and Brown, and keep all draft picks.
They probably are, and assuming nothing transpires here it is where they...
Serious question for Dees supporters. Would you be happy to swap Oliver for Wines AND B.Brown?
I ask this only because I think the only potential way Carlton could satisfy a trade (without giving up an essential player) would be to help Melbourne obtain their own targets.
If there are any curious Freo supporters taking his advice to see how 'triggered' everyone here is, I have some genuine Cripps-related gossip from a recent trip to Perth that they can sink their teeth into.
Of course it is, it's nearly always unders when an uncontracted player (like Saad) is involved.
But it was still nothing to sneeze at, and wouldn't have been if not for the concessions GC already received. It wasn't as if they were offered dregs at the arse end of the draft.
That they could've...
BTW - for the revisionist history professors in here.
Carlton offered Future 2nd (27) and 3rd (45) round picks for Martin, equivalent in points to pick 17, which might've come in handy in bringing some other talent in. This for a bloke who was out of contract, yet to reach his potential and...
Seems you guys could do with a bluemour. Here's one from a respected ITK at another Carlton forum re: Jack Higgins.
The mods can decide whether to add to the bluemour thread or even keep it up as they wish.
(and before anyone asks, I can't name the forum here or the poster)
