Jack Watts will finish his career known as a very high quality player at LEAST.

Nice game tonight, with glimpses of what he can be. Three years away from his best, but just might be a ripper.

Setting the record straight re Port's finances - We are a net contributor financially

In the darkest days Carlton was still drawing 80k crowds for the big rivalrys. Has Adelaide or Port ever even filled that bush ground you play at?

I'd suggest the flipside of that comment is why do Hawthorn supporters go out of your way to sell a bog ordinary goal a game (and in 2011 0.5 goals a game) small forward who has the occasional trot in the guts as a superstar? Stats aren't everything, but they do have their place. And...

^^^ Drawing ratings in SA doesn't cut it. And many other teams draw a mob at the ground and on TV fair weather or foul. It's a national comp, and SA is not carrying it's weight. The WA Clubs put you to shame. In fact QLD and NSW do as well.

Again, bulldust. The Adealaide Clubs are struggling finacially because they don't draw crowds. And they don't draw ratings either.

Why not try to argue your case instead of resorting to denigration? Have a crack at bolding those players below who you judge to be better than Rioli. B: Brent Guerra, Stephen Gilham, Thomas Murphy HB: Grant Birchall, Luke Hodge, Ben Stratton C: Jordan Lewis, Sam Mitchell, Clinton Young HF...

I've deleted the more blatant insults deliberately. Why don't YOU have a look at the stadium deals at Etihad and compare them? You'll find that your pissy little SA Clubs are not alone in the need to put plenty of bums on seats to make money. My own Club, back in the dark days, earned the...

Well in that case why don't we just play the teams which will draw the biggest gate twice, and the others once? Just the same in equity, except we generate more revenue.

A letter to ... Jeff Kennett

Dear Mr Kennet, I think you are na self indulgent, self serving egotistical knob who can't bear the thought of not being in the public eye a couple of times a week. 9 out of 10 of your attention Ho anouncements are ridiculous. Nothing personal. At least you're less of a knob than...

Pigzarse. The large and/or successful Clubs play each other more often. If it's fixed, its fixed AGAINST the powerhouses. I really don't understand, with all the bleating, why The Cows and Poort don't just take their bat and ball and piss off back to SA for good. But of course Adelaide...

Yeah. Its much harder to put bums on seats in Adelaide. How about you move Port to the Barossa, and tell us how you go? You'll still have a better chance than Geelong does, coz the Barossa is a high income zone. GC? You are now surely taking the piss. Second team in a non football...

If you can't think of anything better than that, why not remain silent. It's a dull, meaningless line. Rioli is well behind the best small forwards in the league, and well behind four or possibly five midfielders at Hawthorn alone. You can huff and puff as much as you like, but thems the...

    Judd & Murphy 1 & 2 - say the AFL coaches

While I'd take Pendlebury in a heartbeat if he was offered, I wouldn't swap Murphy for him. Suspect that few Collingwood folk would care to accept a swap either. It's a myth that Murphy is a receiver. He's equal to or mighty close to Judd in 2011 for all the hard graft stats. That's a high...

    Hawthorn's back line.

Nice try. The crippled side Freo put on the paddock was beatable on the moon. Without space suits. Ah. Media speculation. Second only to the daily horoscope as a meaningful guide to life's little decisions. How very Hawthorn. Over my lifetime easily the most obnoxious supporter group...

    The league's best midfield?

Don't disagree with too much of that, although I struggle with Bateman as a speedster. The potential of the younger guys, and I still include Rioli as flashy potential rather than established class, is in the eye of the beholder. And as you say. All the top half Clubs have an eye to...

SANFL Clubs - not the bad guys

Why? What they do with their revenue stream is a side issue. It's no secret that Etihad have bent more than one Victorian based Club over a log and r*ped them. Do we now assume that Etihad should give some of the money back if the Clubs concerned are struggling? Can't see that...

    The league's best midfield?

I'd still have a question mark over players with both quality and pace. There's quality there, and the newer faces have to some degree injected much needed foot speed. But you'd like to see the two aspects coinciding a little more. Then again, in a lot of games a quality midfield can make...

Multi generational nferiority complex much? If you're a pro golfer, you can't claim top level status unless you succeed in the USA. The best players from all over the world go there. Yanks by and large don't travel. You don't play against the best, you have no claim to be among the best...

Setting the record straight re Port's finances - We are a net contributor financially

What a misleading thread this is. It conveniently ignores the considerable sums of money routinely surrendered from the total gate by other Clubs as part of their stadium deals. Just one example. A few years Carlton received FORTY CENTS return for each ticket sold for a "home" game. It...

And you all wonder why we think Rioli is over rated. Rioli is a highlights package with possible potential. Not among the best small forwards in the League, and it would be generous to call him the fourth best midfielder at Hawthorn if you want to put that hat on him. How that makes him...
