Chad Warner
When the Sydney Swans swept up Chad Warner with pick 39 at the 2019 AFL Draft, they secured a youngster with an insatiable appetite for the contest. Warner attacks the ball and opponents with aggression and is relishing calling midfield bulls Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker his teammates at the Swans. Warner impressed for Western Australia in the 2019 AFL Under-18 Championships, averaging 18.2 touches (50 per cent contested), 3.2 clearances and 6.8 tackles per game. He also tallied an average of 27.1 disposals, 6.4 clearances and 7.4 tackles per match at Colts level for East Fremantle in 2019. He earned his AFL debut against Richmond in Round 6 of the 2020 season, recording eight disposals and two tackles.

Chad Warner
DOB: 19 May 2001
DEBUT: 2020
DRAFT: #39, 2019 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Willetton (WA)/Aquinas College (WA)/East Fremantle (WAFL)

Unfortunately, Pyke is now the CEO of the Eagles

If he just wants to catchup, do it in private.
Like Harley did with Daniher?

Maybe he wanted to play golf. They both did.

I’d actually be more persuaded that he was looking to leave if he was meeting with Pyke privately. But even then it would be a “if he leaves, he leaves”.

You are missing the point. The issue isn't about whether Chad does or doesn't leave.

It's the unwanted attention he creates by playing it out in public.

I don't think anyone is saying he shouldn't be allowed to look at his options.

In 12 months time and Harley Reid is uncontracted, if he is playing golf with the Essendon CEO, are their supporters going to be saying 'They are just mates. He is allowed to play golf with his mates. Who cares about the circus he is adding to?!'.

And Daniher met Harley in private and then got ratted out by some GWS player who was Harley's neighbour. And he was still contracted for the following season.

I am not “missing the point”. I think it is a stupid point. The football media is going to speculate and froth until such time as Warner re-signs (or doesn’t). That’s because there are too many talentless leeches incapable of writing anything interesting or insightful about the game.

They’ll do that regardless of who Warner plays golf with. Or what colour kicks he wears, or what he eats for breakfast.

That is the point. The media are going to hype up everything associated with Warner until he re-sings (or doesn't).

The last thing we need is Warner himself adding to it.

The last thing Sydney needs is that but definitely not the last thing Warner needs as he will just get more money out of it.

If it’s going to happen anyway, Warner isn’t adding to it.

That’s my point. You can own your point as your own.

It is all just media crap.
Whatever will be will be.

Warner does not define us. Yes he is an ace in the pack. But we can win without him.
If he leaves we get some good compensation.
If he stays we get a game breaking mid hopefully enabling a GF win.

Mitchell left. Swans still prevailed.
Dawson left. Swans still prevailed.
Buddy retired. Swans still prevailed.
etc

My guess is- and it is just a guess - is that he hasn’t yet made up his mind.
You said if he is going to leave, it doesn't matter what he does.

'If it’s going to happen anyway, Warner isn’t adding to it.'

I think he still plays for us, it does matter what he does and how it impacts our team.

“It” being the media froth and speculation. Not his departure.

I think that was an obvious grammatical use of “it” in my earlier post.

If by prevailed you mean we made it to a Grand Final thumping, then sure, we’ve prevailed 4 times since our last premiership.
Gotta be happy with that.

If Warner's intention is to leave, then he should have just asked out in the trade period.

No way.

He is probably genuinely unsure if his going to leave, and more importantly we should be in flag contention this season, and for 2025 a single Warner is worth more than two first rounders.

Daniher is Tony Norwood’s nephew, so the Harley meeting was a non story.
