Chad Warner
When the Sydney Swans swept up Chad Warner with pick 39 at the 2019 AFL Draft, they secured a youngster with an insatiable appetite for the contest. Warner attacks the ball and opponents with aggression and is relishing calling midfield bulls Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker his teammates at the Swans. Warner impressed for Western Australia in the 2019 AFL Under-18 Championships, averaging 18.2 touches (50 per cent contested), 3.2 clearances and 6.8 tackles per game. He also tallied an average of 27.1 disposals, 6.4 clearances and 7.4 tackles per match at Colts level for East Fremantle in 2019. He earned his AFL debut against Richmond in Round 6 of the 2020 season, recording eight disposals and two tackles.

No way.

He is probably genuinely unsure if his going to leave, and more importantly we should be in flag contention this season, and for 2025 a single Warner is worth more than two first rounders.
We aren't winning anything if this speculation goes on all season.

But if he is genuinely unsure, then fine. We can't trade him against his will anyway.

My posts about trading him this off season is more based on the club having an understanding either way about his likelihood to re-sign. I think the club would know.

Just a coincidence then that he asked to be traded to us at the end of the year.
Yes, me thinks Harley made sure to be careful with his words to retain deniability, while also dangling the idea in front of Daniher.

But he was shocked and surprised damn it, when Daniher nominated Sydney, shocked and surprised!

This will be asked every single time a Swans player or coach does an interview until Chad makes his decision.

Going to be a long 2025
To be fair there's only like five Swans players the media actually knows or cares about and he is one of them.

May have just been me, but both Dean and Millsy didn't sound very confident about Chad

Then again, it's only day 2 of pre-season so who knows

You can read what you like into what Cox said.

I think him saying, as he has said a couple of times, that they want to sort it out soon indicates some level of confidence that they are expecting some kind of indication from Chad soon one way or another.

I wouldn't take any notice of anything Mills said.

It would be hilarious and refreshing if Chad came out and said in preseason that he's going back to WA next year (if he is).
Then those two clubs can have all the questions about him while we get on with the season.
"Who you going to cut to get his salary in" , "Who will you offer to the Swans in a trade?" etc etc

Our answers from Coaches & Players to be confined to, "We hope to send Chad out a Swans Premiership player, that's all we are thinking about and working toward." $200 fines for any player saying any slight deviation from those exact words. Eventually the press will tire of it.

Beating round the bush all year just to avoid what becomes more obvious as the year goes on is all a bit silly. (If that is his choice).

If it's not his choice to go, I'll be pleased with that no doubt. But if he does... 🤷‍♂️
