Chad Warner
When the Sydney Swans swept up Chad Warner with pick 39 at the 2019 AFL Draft, they secured a youngster with an insatiable appetite for the contest. Warner attacks the ball and opponents with aggression and is relishing calling midfield bulls Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker his teammates at the Swans. Warner impressed for Western Australia in the 2019 AFL Under-18 Championships, averaging 18.2 touches (50 per cent contested), 3.2 clearances and 6.8 tackles per game. He also tallied an average of 27.1 disposals, 6.4 clearances and 7.4 tackles per match at Colts level for East Fremantle in 2019. He earned his AFL debut against Richmond in Round 6 of the 2020 season, recording eight disposals and two tackles.

Chad Warner
DOB: 19 May 2001
DEBUT: 2020
DRAFT: #39, 2019 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Willetton (WA)/Aquinas College (WA)/East Fremantle (WAFL)

Who has that break away speed from congestion and the goal sense ( mid ) on our list who replaces him?

Even in the competition at 23

I’ll wait
Excellent point. He’s the most damaging mid in the game bar none. What makes him so dangerous is that his power and speed , means he can explode at any time and basically score from any clearance in the front half (sometimes from the back half like against saints in 22).

Oppo can not slack off on him or give him space because once he’s out , he’s gone and you won’t get him.

People are trying to play down his ability because they are scarred by the likes of Dawson. I get it.

But make no mistake , Warner is worth every penny he is being offered and he will be a devastating loss if we lose him

One of the great things about both Heeney and Warner is that they can be very damaging both in the mids and the forwards. I think we can get the best from both of them by splitting their time between the roles. It will make it difficult to set an opponent for them or even to know where they'll be at any given time. I'd much rather Warner stays than that he goes. I just hope it gets sorted quickly.

Especially if we lose him for draft picks and not a decent player

The media in Perth occasionally mentions Warner.

They’re far more worried about Harley Reid & when he’s going to announce the move to Geelong.

The Chad issue is more prevalent in the AFL press.
The house and golf stories have started in WA and picked up as click bait from morons here

He was on the course
It may well be a course in Perth Until then

I still think something positive will happen soon. We must have confidence that he is going to extend.

It doesn't make any sense that we wouldn't have tried to trade him this offseason if we thought he would be leaving in 12 months anyway.
That's what the club said all of last year about Parker - he's part of the furniture, he's staying in 2025 - right up until he requested a trade.

I still think perth media talk throughout the season could act as a deterrent for him signing with WA team. He's will zero anonymity in Perth. Big change from Sydney.

If all the speculation impacts his football then I hope we push him to make a decision asap.

Strikes me that he seems the type that would just love all the media attention.
I'm probably being a bit disingenuous to him, but that's just how he comes across in my opinion.

Good point, still think he's not that Bailey Smith type of attention lover. He enjoys it but would be spooked by the non-footy related attention. Hopefully he gets cold feet from it & commits with us for 10 years :p
