Chad Warner
When the Sydney Swans swept up Chad Warner with pick 39 at the 2019 AFL Draft, they secured a youngster with an insatiable appetite for the contest. Warner attacks the ball and opponents with aggression and is relishing calling midfield bulls Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker his teammates at the Swans. Warner impressed for Western Australia in the 2019 AFL Under-18 Championships, averaging 18.2 touches (50 per cent contested), 3.2 clearances and 6.8 tackles per game. He also tallied an average of 27.1 disposals, 6.4 clearances and 7.4 tackles per match at Colts level for East Fremantle in 2019. He earned his AFL debut against Richmond in Round 6 of the 2020 season, recording eight disposals and two tackles.

Chad Warner
DOB: 19 May 2001
DEBUT: 2020
DRAFT: #39, 2019 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Willetton (WA)/Aquinas College (WA)/East Fremantle (WAFL)

Slightly off topic, but it was rumoured on here in the days before the trade period that the club needed Parker's money off the books for something to happen this year.
It's logical that if Parker signed a 4 year extension at the end of 2021, that he would have been on a lot of money next season. Probably close to a million. And he took until September in 2021 to extend.

Even if there isn't a correlation between Parker leaving and what we can offer Warner, it would still be very handy to be off (most of) that money.

I still think perth media talk throughout the season could act as a deterrent for him signing with WA team. He's will zero anonymity in Perth. Big change from Sydney.

If all the speculation impacts his football then I hope we push him to make a decision asap.
He'll never have it better than with us. I'd imagine Dean Cox & co have probably had this chat with him and said to him, if you feel like leaving, I'm not gonna beg you to stay, but soon you'll be finding you can run, you can hide, but you can't escape my love

For a second, I thought you were going somewhere serious haha

I am skeptical. Both West Coast and Freo had the draft picks to make offers we wouldn't have said no to.

His manager would have been able to push it through.
After the Baker and Bolton deals, both clubs weren't left with anything for this year, especially after they traded pick 3 to Carlton. I daresay he would have tried though!

West Coast do have the Hawks' 1st and 2nd rd picks next year via the Barrass trade, as well as their own.

Not needed? Are you the primary arbiter of this entire site? Seriously you would question Santa Claus and probably give him a thumbs down Lighten up Life is too short Especially in the Autumnal years
You were replying and could've just typed something , it's not needed to me .

If Warner had asked to go to either WA team, they would have prioritised that deal over any others.

Or after two humiliations on the big stage, holding Chad to his contract is one last desperate act to jag a flag and somewhat redeem themselves.
Desperate is one way to describe it. I would call it incompetent.

If this goes on all year Warner being at the club will impede our chances to be successful, not help.

If Warner asked to be traded and we said that we wouldn't even consider it and instead wanted to commit ourselves to this circus, then we need more of a clean out than just the senior coach.

Agreed

Well the talk is he approached the club and asked for a trade but the club denied it and said you won’t be traded

Show me one semi-credible report that stated he asked for a trade.

Amazing how you know the inside word yet not one journo as picked up on it.
They are reporting on a game of golf, reporting on a house viewing, but they forgot or missed the bit where he asked for a trade and the Swans said no.

But somehow you know all about it and did you forget to mention it until now?

I know you are constantly running with the 'Chad is a distraction' line but no need to make stuff up.
