Something is obviously not right with Jy. You’d have to assume the concussions have taken their toll.
The game just looks way too quick for him now. Hurried kicks on his left are now becoming the norm.
Will he ever return to his dual Syd Barker Medal form, or is he cooked?

Signing him til 2029 was a huge risk at the time - a small mid with average pace and poor disposal - and at the moment, you’d have to say 5 more years of the current Jy is unsustainable.

And unless there is a major upswing in his form, the captaincy can’t be his next season. It just can’t.

There's nothing wrong with him, team simply isn't matured enough to sustain a whole mature.

Big second half of the season coming up for Jy.

We've been critical of him and with the lack of leadership as it stands being the youngest and least experienced team, Jy going to another level would make the dire start to the year more forgettable. Maybe even get a few Ws if the players collectively step up.

Lots of questions. Now they need to be answered.

You’ll be able to tell 15 mins in.

If it still looks like he’s running in maple syrup, he’s cooked.

Break ups are often not easy - good luck to both.

One minute you’re footy’s new “it” couple, the next you’re hitting the unfollow button.
These are the Days of Our AFL Lives.
North Melbourne co-captain Jy Simpkin and model girlfriend Demi Brereton have split.
The easy-on-the-eye pair, who have been dating for little more than two years, are understood to have broken up recently, with management confirming they split “amicably” and “remain good friends”.
Brereton has made a name for herself over the last few years as a trusted Victoria Racing Club Melbourne Cup Carnival ambassador and is a successful fit model and former Fashions on the Field winner.

She and Simpkin were head over heels when they first met, hitting the Flemington Racecourse together, and making waves as a fashionable pair to watch on the Brownlow carpet last year.
But things hit a snag when they both hit the ‘unfollow’ button on each other – the telltale modern day dating sign that there is trouble in paradise.
Simpkin last popped up on the model’s grid when she shared a post celebrating Valentine’s Day while the co-captain last shared a glimpse into a romantic getaway in January.
Brereton told the Herald Sun in March that Simpkin was recovering “really well” after being concussed during a heavy on-field knock from St Kilda’s Jimmy Webster.
It’s understood Brereton is heading overseas on the weekend, with Simpkin returning to the line up after being sidelined with a quad injury in Perth on Saturday against the West Coast Eagles.

Thoughts with both parties.

Going to be tough for either to ever land anyone else, looking like that.

oh well, lets focus on follow, you will always fit **** that bounce but you only get 1 chance at footy at the top.

He is 26 and at the prime of his career, time to start delivering.

26th in the league for disposals in 2022.
Average of 26.62.

How he has fallen.

With his contract and age, we really need Jy back in top form. Put him in the middle.

Named rover. Pray he finds some fitness and touch.

Needs continuity in the back half of the year. Don’t expect him to come in this week and turn it all around. Hopefully he plays a positive role and then builds.
If he can perform the important role of protecting and guarding space for George and Luke to run into, it will be huge for both of them.

Jy doesn’t get anywhere near the kudos he deserves when it comes to smarts inside (assuming he has form).

Was very good in our final game last year and looked primed for a strong season before his concussion. I think that played a massive part in this
Honestly I think it ****ed him. It would be in the back of his mind that he’s one concussion away from forced retirement.

Hopefully he can regain some form, I honestly think he holds a huge part in us recruiting a big bodied midfielder (from another big Melbourne club 😉) this upcoming trade period.
