He’s a busted unit. He was once hit by a motorcycle rider because he was blind on a school night. He was sidelined for a few weeks IIRC. This guy cannot lead our team. He may have a gig ad a best 22 player (maybe) but if I was the club, I would give serious consideration to putting him up for trade.

This is his best mate on brownlow night.

You're sacking Jy cos of what an opposition player wears on his feet?

Imagine you’re the captain of an afl club and instead of playing finals in September you’re dressing your dog up in designer gear 😵

I don't really care that he's playing golf and dressing up his dog.

I do care that the club is madly importing anyone over 30 who has ever kicked a ball when we have 2 blokes who between them should be providing that leadership.

Jy got to North for Spitta's last year and then JZ was captain. I think Parker coming is good for Jy's development as much as anyone else. He'd have never played with someone like Parker in his life and he's playing for us for at least another five years. You can't expect someone to lead a footy club out of the wilderness when all they've had is JZ and Brad Scott as an example to follow. JZ is as courageous as they come too but he doesn't have the mindset we needed. No one did really.

All Jy's had is Higgo, who to his credit may have cut back on or stopped his coke usage while mentoring Jy.

Fair points but it needs to come from within too. Can't always rely on a mentor to take the baton from.

There's enough evidence Luke shouldn't be skipper due to on field output (Yeh I know he placed in the Syd).

Jy does possibly have what it takes but 2 years in and he hasn't really stamped his impramatur on the group.

It does need to come from within but the weaknesses with leadership that we have have been there for years. We haven't had that onfield toughness since the player we once called the Junk Yard Dog was playing. We broke that link when she left and Scott came along with his modern corporate style of bullshit. he didn't value that fight. Actually Parker is a connection back to it thru Horse and Blakey Sr, who both brought that culture of toughness to Sydney and probably instilled it in Parker.

I've been in hectic situations and learned how to keep a cool head because I learned off people who led by example. I was always okay in a crisis anyway but I learned more anyway just thru exposure and then when it was my turn to lead people in those situations I could do it because I had that experience under someone else to draw on. Jy's shown he can do it under pressure, he did against WC when no one expected him to. But he needs someone who can show that's the norm not the exception and drive him to live up to that expectation. Whether he stays as captain long term or not, having Parker there will benefit him and he'll grow as an onfield leader.

Jy's a blackfella, one of I think only two indigenous captain's in the AFL and the entire time he's been captain the club's coach has been accused of incredibly bad racist behaviour against other blackfellas. It was originally framed as genocidal eugenics in the media. That on its own would **** with his head without all the baggage of instability and historically shithouse form we had anyway. Then he had the Tarryn Thomas situation as well. I doubt he's had any real support thru all of it. He used to go to the top end and hang out with Jed in the bush but I doubt he's done that since Jed left.

The way he's navigated thru all of that and always gets plaudits from the likes of Sheeze when he's brought up ... well to me he deserves shitloads more respect for what he's done than he gets on this board. I doubt any of the people canning him could lead anyone thru the sort of crises he's led his team thru in the last two seasons. I'd say most would have shat their pants and run away.

I agree about Lmac tho. He's shown the same lack of composure to cost us games that JZ and McKay did last year and that if we are being honest, JZ showed thru his entire tenure as captain.

Clarkson used Vandenberg as skipper years 1-3. Not the greatest player but was laughed at at the time as a big talker and willing driver of the coaches messages.

Switched to one of their best players in Mitchell in year 4, switched over to Hodge in year 7.

If Jy is to be the Vandenberg or the Mitchell - he needs to fly solo to find out imo.

I feel the dual skipper model just dilutes and confuses things especially with inexperienced leaders in place. Let him sink a bit on his own and he just might swim.

Yeah I agree. Well over LMac as captain.

Based on Clarko's comments on Friday, its clear how he and the club feel about the current leaders and the fact were so open to trying to bring in a Viney or Ward or Parker says all we need to know about Jy and the other donkey playing in defence. The standards are set by a 19yo. Were taking the piss aren't we.

I have never called for him to be dropped or sacked, however his place in the midfield has been disastrous for years. His contract is a bad one, but he does have a place at high half forward working into the middle.

Give the man his flowers when he plays well. But when he clearly plays poorly and costs the side by his decision making, its the consistent tone deaf defence on here based upon nothing except the fact he's captain and if you dare critically analyse his efforts you are enemy number one. I don't ****ing get it.

Are we here to win games of football and get better or sentiment?

The calls of "he tries hard" and "he's had a few bad knocks" are nonsense.

He's killing us in the middle. One more week and then straight to half forward next year.

The reality is anyone who thinks he's going okay is a certified idiot.

Great post as usual.

He doesn't have a spot in the midfield imo

Its obviously too much for him Ferbs, he needs to step down from the leadership if what you suggest is the case. He must step back and just focus on himself and play footy because all he’s doing is destabilising the team and his own form is impacted.

Personally, I believe its simply a bit of “not the top dog in town” any longer and it ****s with him. He was shown up
In the running by Dyl Stephens, he has been shown up in the midfield by much younger players, he isn’t able to bring the best out of the team. He’s done and it has nothing to do with him being black or Indigenous. He’s not a leader to march the team into success.

He was, and credit goes to him. The right leader at the right time. That time is now done.
