When we got knocked out of the FIFA World Cup under Verbeek, the talk was that it wasn't the "Aussie" way. We've never been a force to be reckoned with in football but we all know what that Aussie way is. It's in their face, physical, let them know they're in a battle, cross the line if it is what it takes.

I tell you what, this current style of play we've adopted sure as shit isn't the Aussie way. We've fallen into trying to be the nice guys of cricket, smiling at our opponent after getting into a bit of back and forth, we'll never be the nice guys. We've been far too successful to be anyone's favourite second team. Bring back the aggression, India has spades of it.

OK, first post. I've watched cricket my whole life, over 50 years. Everyone used to face up with their bat close to the ground or on the ground not so long ago. Now a lot of batsman, including McSweeney had the bat up around his ears. My question, surely if you know they are targeting the stumps and your pads, won't you have more time to get in behind it if you start with the bat roughly where you want your bat to be on impact. He seemed to be beaten for pace bringing the bloody bat down. This team is so bad but I'm guessing old George keeps his mates around.

I was born in 89 - this and the 2010 ashes is the worst we have looked in my time.

The sad things is that there doesn’t seem like great batting talent coming through. Things turn around pretty quickly though McSweeny will be ok, Green and Head give us something to build around. The best thing the selectors can do is drop Marnus - all the great/good players have been dropped he needs a spell; he has had a blessed run but the selectors need to drop out of form players and stop holding onto the past. No idea who is performing at Shield level to deserve that place though.

All of this said - the Smith/Cummins era has been pretty good not as good was the Taylor/Waugh/Ponting era but i doubt anything will ever be as good as that when we had generational players like Warne, McGrath, Ponting, Gilly, Waugh and Martyn; this group has been pretty amazing to watch.

There hasn't been depth in regards to batting for at least 10 to 15 years. This era of Australian cricket hasn't been strong.

In a stronger era, the likes of Marnus, Travis Head, Mitch Marsh, Nathan Lyon and probably Khawaja - they don't get a game in the Australian Test team.

"Down the order"

Tell me you're a complete nuffie flog without telling me.

Averaging 16 in his last 3 first class games opening the batting, but hey he might just buck the trend of every other player picked based on runs not opening as an opening batsman. Bumrah is nothing like facing up to the might of the Jellybacks!!!

Can’t do that stuff anymore, especially against India.

Wouldn’t want to ruffle any BCCI feathers and jeapordise IPL contracts or Indian endorsement opportunities would we?

I get you have nothing to actually add other than trolling, but try to actually make it land.

I'm in favour of dropping Labuschagne because it is clear his confidence with the bat is completely shot. He seemed to be lost in both innings, notwithstanding the fact that he lasted 50+ deliveries in the first innings.

Would you pay to watch this team play?

We'll struggle to win a test all series based on this performance, India are only going to get stronger. Rohit Sharma comes in, Paddikal gets dropped. People aren't scared of us anymore.

IPL franchises will pay anyone to play for them if they're good enough, as long as they're not from Pakistan.

Yea i think loose-bus-change's goose is well and truly overcooked . A smith low score tomorrow and the marnus and smith era is officially over.

50 to Henry Hunt.
Previously an Australia A, made a century on tour to SL?
Shield player of the year 2 seasons back.
A big ton at the Gabba plus 2 fifties last 4 matches this season
Knows how to bat long
Is an opener

Won’t pick him this summer I know, but I reckon he’s one that wouldn’t be phased by Test Cricket.

After being dropped by Kohli on 0 (3)

The hilarious thing is that when he was at his best a lot of peoppe were in awe. Reality is - he's good but isn't that good.

Had a golden run of hitting the ball and fielders were dropping catches plus he dis well in Australia. Plus, he isn't effective outside the comforts of home (Australia). But now...its all unravelling.

It just shows that far too many one eyed biased Aussie cricket fans get too emotional and assessed Marnus as the "second coming" lol.

He's the least worst option we have unfortunately but George is a moron.

Let’s be real Harris wouldn’t last long against Bumrah. The best option was keeping Smith doing it with McSweeney at 4.
