Really only a WC. The WTC is the biggest load of. Uneven fixtures, point deductions, fixed final venue, etc.
Not true. Alternating the opener who takes the first ball is something Khawaja and Warner did, but it is a rarity in Tests, most openers have a set person who takes the first ball. It is also something that Khawaja can be talked out of, as Smith always took the first ball when they opened. Unless McSweeney specifically requested it, its just poor from Khawaja not to take the senior role.Usman took the first ball of the match so McSweeney was always gonna face the first ball of the 2nd innings
It’s back to 19.9, thanks to McSweeney and LabuschagneAbsolutely.
Across all forms, too.
NZ series knocked his test average above 20, gonna be under 20 again before you know it.
incredible bowler.
That two year Warner farewell tour really worked a treat for the new crop of batters.
Let’s be real Harris wouldn’t last long against Bumrah. The best option was keeping Smith doing it with McSweeney at 4.
Won the World Test Championship, World Cup, World T20, held the Ashes for 8 years and been world no.1 Test nation for god knows how long. Been a great era. Not 90s/2000 great, not near that, but a great era, nonetheless. At our top we had Marus and Smith averaging in the 60s, Warner in form, Ussie on fire vas an opener and 4 bowlers at the top of their game. Now they are struggling with age. Stood out last year but we got away with it.There hasn't been depth in regards to batting for at least 10 to 15 years. This era of Australian cricket hasn't been strong.
In a stronger era, the likes of Marnus, Travis Head, Mitch Marsh, Nathan Lyon and probably Khawaja - they don't get a game in the Australian Test team.

Sure, but there are 3 tests after that?and 6th Dec is day 1 of the 2nd test
Over rates disgraceful again in this Test. Similar standard to Marnus' DRS call tonight.
But kudos to Jasprit Bumrah for superb bowling. Enjoyable to watch, despite being at Australia's expense.
Yup and had a horrific injury last season which didn’t help matters. Looks very good this evening.Previously an Australia A, made a century on tour to SL?
Shield player of the year 2 seasons back.
A big ton at the Gabba plus 2 fifties last 4 matches this season
Knows how to bat long
Is an opener
Won’t pick him this summer I know, but I reckon he’s one that wouldn’t be phased by Test Cricket.
His bowling action…Absolutely.
Across all forms, too.
