Re: Round 8 Trades

D. Hale is a playing spud, isn't he? If he is, that'd put him above Tippett in my books.

Sandi, Cox, Smith, Petrie, Tippett, $100k+ > Sandi, Cox, Smith, Petrie, Hale.

Few weeks, my team will have:
Sandi, Cox, 91k kid, Petrie, Tippett, $250k of cold hard cash to upgrade dud back to someone decent

Re: Round 8 Trades

+1 You don't need 4 playing rucks. Tippet is just to provide flexibility with Petrie.

yep.

you will be extremely unlucky if Sandi/Cox + petrie miss a week together. It's a risk im willing to take

Re: Round 8 Trades

I'm thinking along these lines over the next few weeks (currently 18 trades/$167,000):
ROUND 8
J. Grimes -> B. Jacobs
E. Curnow -> D. Mundy

ROUND 9
D. Swallow -> I. Smith
D. Harris -> D. Swan

ROUND 10
D. Heppell -> C. Enright
A. Krakouer -> G. Ablett

So I'll have a team of:
DELEDIO, Brett; ENRIGHT, Corey; GIBBS, Bryce; GODDARD, Brendon; GILBEE, Lindsay; LOWER, Nick; SMITH, Brodie
PUOPOLO, Paul; PEDERSEN, Cameron; TOY, Josh

SWAN, Dane; MUNDY, David; PENDLEBURY, Scott; BOYD, Matthew; PRIDDIS, Matt; ABLETT, Gary
SMITH, Isaac; LIBERATORE, Tom; JACOBS, Ben

COX, Dean; SANDILANDS, Aaron
SMITH, Zachary; KEEFFE, Lachlan

FRANKLIN, Lance; PAVLICH, Matthew; GOODES, Adam; RIEWOLDT, Nick; GREEN, Brad; PETRIE, Drew; DARLING, Jack
TAPSCOTT, Luke; MATERA, Brandon; MCKERNAN, Shaun

Is the Heppell trade really necessary? He's going just as well as Enright. Not sure If I'd do that.

Upgrading a Lower or Brodie Smith would be higher on my agenda.

Otherwise it looks pretty good.

Re: Round 8 Trades

Lower won't have peaked and I don't have enough cash to upgrade smith. Heppell was to get him out of my team before finals at a time he's peaked right before his bye :)

Re: Round 8 Trades

Heppell's a keeper i would have thought? Probably not premium average of 100+ that you'd ideally want, but with the lack of premiums about in the backline i don't see any downside to keeping him in there. Lowest score of 81, a high of 105 over 7 games.... that's pretty good consistency. I;d trade someone else tbh.

Re: Round 8 Trades

Grimes -> Enright
Curnow -> Maybe Smith? not sure yet.

Will be looking to upgrade Swallow or Harris (probably Swallow, who will be close to max) before next week, as otherwise I'll be left with three GC mids.

I was wondering about that. I have some rookies, like Lower, Swallow, Darling, Heppell etc who are scoring really well, in some cases better than my premiums (I'm looking at you Broughton) and also some that aren't scoring great and haven't gone up much in price - but are still nearing a plateau, e.g. Pitt, Mckernan, Buckley, Prestia. What I'm basically asking is, do you get rid of rookies that aren't scoring great/haven't made much money - even though that doesn't get me premium upgrades, or do I jump off rookies playing well who have value?

Apologies if that's an obvious question..

Re: Round 8 Trades

So you think I should just keep Heppell?
If I don't trade him out my Round 10 backline will look like:
DELEDIO, Brett [MID]
GIBBS, Bryce [MID]
GODDARD, Brendon [MID]
GILBEE, Lindsay [MID]
LOWER, Nick
SMITH, Brodie
PUOPOLO, Paul

PEDERSEN, Cameron
TOY, Josh
HEPPELL, Dyson [MID]

That concerns me...

It's a tricky situation. :p Generally with rookies that aren't scoring too well i will either hang onto them (like Richardson unfortunately) in the hope that i could downgrade him at some point and upgrade another rookie, say Darling, for a fallen premium like a Riewoldt, Didak or RO'K or something when they start playing well and before they rise too much. I'm no expert though, everyone is different :p

So you think I should just keep Heppell?

You have pretty good depth in your forwards, what about trading out one of Matera, Darling or Tapscott and upgrading Toy or Smith? It's a few weeks away yet, so you'll have time to assess it then i guess.

Re: Round 8 Trades

I'll most likely go Newman, but is anyone else looking at Tadhg Kennelly or Josh Drummond as their Grimes replacement?

High risk - high reward unique options that may be worth a gamble?

Re: Round 8 Trades

What about Johncock? Have barely seen any mention of him on year, yet he was a top 3 defender last year. i know he's started slowly, but plenty of upside i would of though especially if the crows get going. Looking at his stats he seems to be getting his fair share of the ball.

I highly doubt Kennelly's scoring ability.

I have NO doubt on Drummond's scoring ability - until he gets hurt.

Kennelly averaged 95 over the last 7 games that he played last year (includes a game of only 31) so figured that he might be at least worth looking into. Has scored 86 in his two games played this season (with a tag last week IIRC). But mmyeah, will probably stay away myself.

I've had Drummond every year but it really has been a heart pick instead of a head pick :eek: Might see how he goes and then roll the dice on him down the track.

Has another 46k to go according to supercoach gold. Finals are a long way away yet, I'd be holding onto him until then.

Why has anybody even traded yet when the teams aren't out!?!

Re: Round 8 Trades

Need a bit of advice - starting team this week
Backs - Deledio, Heppell, Goddard, H.Shaw, Lower, Puopolo, Batchelor
EMG - Gibbs, Grimes, Toy
Mids - Pendlebury, J.Kennedy, J.Selwood, Liberatore, Pittard, D,Swallow
EMG - Curnow, Murphy, R.Bewick
Rucks - Sandilands, Cox, Smithm Derickk
Forwards - Franklin, Chapman, Riewoldt, Fyfe, Sylvia, Darling, Matera
EMG - Yarren, Krakouer, C.Richardson
Only have $52000 and really want a win this week. Hardly any MPP protection so ideally would love a Mid/Forward.
Help greatly appreciated.

Curnow and Grimes out? Or Liberatore? Curnow -> rookie and Grimes -> Adcock? Means Batchelor could be benched. And you could get Isaac Smith who is mid/forward for Curnow.

Worked out this:
Curnow -> Smith
Tapscott -> Harvey
$17 700 left over

Next week:
Grimes -> Puopolo
$296 800 left over
Pittard -> Swan

Swans breakeven = 198
Pittard = 59

IF Pittard gets 60, and Swan gets 120,
Pittard = $297k Swan = $557k

Left: $36k, 1 def, 1 mid and 1 forward position filled by rookie and to be upgraded. Thoughts?

Re: Round 8 Trades

Not sure on which way to roll..

My team as is..

Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Grundy, GRIMES, Lower, Thompson (Batchelor, Toy, Puopolo)

Swan, Judd, Selwood, Thompson, Heppell, Harris (Swallow, CURNOW, Bewick)

Sandi, Cox (J Tip, Smith)

Franklin, Pavlich, Goodes, N Roo, JRoo, Petrie, Darling (Tapscott, Matera, Richardson)

obviously, Grimes and Curnow are the issue. Not sure how I want to go about it...

option 1 - 1 trade Grimes > 394k (Grima, Rawlings, Duffield, Murphy currently looking at)

option 2 - 2 trades Curnow > Smith & Grimes > Shaw/Adcock/Enright
then next week upgrade Swallow > 480-510k depending on Swallow

option 3 - Grimes bench, play a rookie trade Curnow > Smith & Swallow > Mundy/Pendlebury/Boyd

any ideas or suggestions??

Re: Round 8 Trades

Is Adcock worth picking up as a keeper? Or should I grab Enright instead?

Ill have enough since im going Curnow -> I.Smith for cash. Happy to pick up the best possible backline keeper I can and it looks like Adcock might be the one. But im very hesitant. :confused:

All depends if Scott Thompson plays? If he does and smith is selected then I prefer option 3
