Just read your four posts; you seem to be pretty worked up about PAFC

The club has a lot of work to do both on and off the field, but I do feel KT is turning this ship around in a professional manner. Are you not confident in our journey or have you lost patience? or are you trolling?

Honestly mate I just never rated surjan as a player! Would never get a game in a premierhip side! I think the journey ahead is very promising specially after the moves that have been made this off season! Im with you with KT I reckon he's on the right path.

After whats happened to the crows and us with players wanting to return home. Feels like we are recruiting or aiming alot more people fom sa rather than the best possible player in order for them to stay, be home. State of origin hasnt died its starting back up. You poor little homesick boys what have ya done.

I think he's Peter Rohde. He rates Tom Logan higher than Surjan, and surely there's only one person on the planet stupid enough to hold that opinion.

I don't recall ever saying I rated logan better than surjan feel free to prove me wrong!! He just didn't make my cut list this year but I will be happy if Logan is dumped at the end of this coming year or traded by Friday. Can't just scrap half a team have to hold onto some junk but they are doing very well in eradicating bad players from our list so far! In surjan banner etc

As long as we keep the Vic boys we want to keep.........Butcher, Boak, Trengove, Gray, Moore, Pittard.

Do like the SA talent though - Hartlett, Wingard, Brad, Broady, Redden, Schulz........

Exactly these guys are the ones to build a team around. Like the two gws recruits as well. Hombsch highlights look promising!

PORT ADELAIDE is retreating from the chase for Fremantle's switch-hitting defender Greg Broughton.

The Power is being turned off by the heavy cash demand on the final year of Broughton's contract that comes with his trade from the Dockers.
Also, Port is not eager to meet 26-year-old Broughton's demands for a long-term deal.

Wheres all of our salary cap gone then?

Broughton is one of the best "good ordinary players" playing in the AFL at the moment. He doesn't really stand out at anything in particular, but he wins the ball, can recieve it, uses it well, defends and can play a variety of roles. Would love to bring him onboard, but we'd have to pay him more than most clubs simply due to the fact he's be one of our best players rather than a mid range player at clubs playing finals. Surely we would have been aware of this all along?

I don't know why we don't just pay him the last year of the contract and negotiate next year.

hear hear

I like the look of these new guys.

I guess I'm just excited about the new look side that we are building toward. I feel like its been ground hog day since 2005 watching the same guys run around, deliver nothing but pain and then getting rewarded with contract extensions and game time.

I would much rather go though a couple of years of pain and rebuild for a premiership, as opposed to being "loyal" to players who have delivered nothing but misery for 6 out of 7 years.

In the players defence, the PAFC administration and football department has been woeful. This clearly hasn't helped recruitment, development and morale.

Channel Nine reported that we are unlikely to trade in any more players. That makes me think that we will list the Russell, Sumner, Jurrah and Jolly types via the delisted route.

I really don't know what to make of it. GWS isn't dumb and have been stockpiling picks and quality juniors. They've basically given Port Adelaide two players who could be valuable contributors and who both service clear needs for our team for next to nothing. I'm not sure if we're missing something with GWS' internal reviews of Hombsch and Neade or if Rohde and Cripps just pantsed GWS.

Well the way i see it with Hombsch is

He is a KPD, He is behind Davis, and Mohr so when it comes down to it. They rate their current KPD stocks higher and see it more important to hang onto them

Neede i'm thinking must've been the steak knives that made it pick 29 not pick 31

Also from a draft stand point, it gives GWS a good pick that isnt in the first round so they can pick someone like Towers up

He should realise that 4 year deals are only for flankers from Essendon & St Kilda, short outside midfielders and 3rd choice KPDs.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes.

What Rohde has said, is that our current picks won't be traded.

There are still some players possibly gone, and the Ben Jacobs deal (and picks associated.)

Wouldn't mind betting we've had Hombsch lined up for a while and would explain why the club didn't even think about matching Chaplin's offer from Richmond. Hombsch will be everything we wanted Chaplin to be and more.

I also expect we'll see some more additions. As The Smaller Warrior said, Rohde stated we want to keep 7,30,31 but didn't rule out using what we get for Jacobs as well as what we'll get in for what we could trade out.

Don't get the concern over Broughton's salary. We've only got Logan, Hitchcock, D. Stew and Salter to re-sign, surely none of them are going to be haggling over price, and if they are then Broughton's a better player than all 4 of them put together anyway.

That's now but if he has a heavily back ended contract as Rucci suggests and we really do improve, it will be on the back of young guns like Wingard, Hartlett, Trengove, Pittard, Broadbent, Butcher, Redden, Hombsch and Neade (;)) - probably throw Brad Ebert in there too. And in four years their contract demands will be escalating.

On the Facebook afl draft page they believe Jolly is as good as our by tomorrow

Can't we just pick him up as a delisted free agent next week? Are we only going to trade pick 106 for him as a token gesture?
