Yay
I would not renew my membership nxt yr if Melbourne wasted any first/second round picks on the likes of S Selwood.
Lol - would be our best midfielder.
Are you upset we used #12 on Nathan Jones in 06'?

Many eagles fans believe selwood will be their next captain.Lol - would be our best midfielder.

In fairness Roos has a proven record when it comes to training, so I would back his judgement
Yeah true, but he picked up players like Kennedy. Would you be happy with a player like him for pick 2?True, though he never spent any top-10 picks in his trades as far as I know. Getting value for pick 2 is a lot harder than pick 15 or so, like he used to get Jolly.

With hindsight, sure. But at the time it was hard to tell whether he would become as good as he has. I trust the recruiting staff wouldn't give up pick 2 cheaply but we would want to get a very good player in return who'd still be below 24 or 25.
Yeah, of course!
But Scott Selwood is a 23 year old midfielder who is 2nd in tackles per game (in the AFL) and 13th in clearances per game (also in the AFL), averages 11.4 contested possessions per game as well - polled 15 Charlie votes last year to top it off.
I would have thought he qualifies your criteria haha
At pick 2 though???
Just seems high
Joel he ain't
13th in clearances.... we NEED him
Look I understand it
But pick 2 is POTENTIALLY elite
Keep in mind this is potential under roos, not bailey / neeld / prenderghastly / Harrington
Roos has been quoted as saying he would trade pick 2 for a gun mid... he looks gun

I really rate Scott. Not as good as Joel, sure, but a damn sight better than Adam or Troy.
Tried searching this thread but where did the rumour actually come from of Scooter to Melbourne?
I did hear Lyon (yes I know he's not an currently attached to your club in an official manner) talking up throwing a big contract his way during Triple Ms call of an Eagles game recently.
Has there been any indication from your club at all that they'd be interested?

I hope we don't have a new coach, but anyway, I think any trade that involves pick 2 and Scooter would have the Eagles very interested. I think most can agree pick 2 alone would be overs (hence most on our board all for it) so I'd think there would have to be other players or picks involved to get it done.
Without knowing who the club has their eye on though and how good the very top end talent of this draft is (didn't expect us to finish this low or the possibility of trading for pick 2) it's hard to say how willing they would be to part with the second pick. But it would have to be something like that for it to actually happen, pick two in a straight swap would have us making out like bandits.
I forgot you guys finished so low , 13th?
So it's like 2 for selwood and 24 ish , I think that comes across as around about the mark
