Interesting. Lets see what we already have.

2x HF's - Tutt
2x Mid's - Whiley
CHB - Jaksch
CHF - Jones
Rookie ruck
Winger

Pick 19 will probably be the other midfielder. Pick 28, 61 and 65 the Winger and HF. And Tutt in the PSD.

Seems Malthouse is hell bent on getting the right ingredients in, so that he can start baking. :)

Saad may fit the bill of the other HF, if he is still around at our #61.

I like that we have a plan in place but hope this doesn't mean we don't pick up a kid with real talent who slides a long way (Goddard/Marchbank). Also what do people think of Jack Cripps (not sure if related to Pat) and Matthew Hammelmann (lions academy player overlooked for nomination)

If you went by the Phantom Drafters he'd be a lock.
There are 3 there, that have Lamb dropping at #19

Not sure why but Lamb looks very St.Kilda. Reckon they'll get him at #21 or #22

I dunno, could get dangerous if they try and get him alight during Mad Monday ...........

I'd personally prefer if we only got 1 of Tutt and Saad. Get a kid like Lonie to fill the other spot.

With what they are trying to do at the club right now I'd rather they grab two small players that already have the pace and knowledge of the game. I really like the look of Lonie too, but would have Tutt and Saad every day of the week. Both fit the mould and aren't exactly squibs.

I'd take a big bodied mid and a tall mid/fwd with our first two picks. I'd then take a flyer at Saad and one of those two bigs released by ADEL.(Johnston/McKernan) at our two picks in the 60's. PSD Tutt, Rookie Dick and a speculative Ruck/KPF.

Yeh, the idea of loading up on team's scraps really doesn't excite me :p 1 or 2 is ok but no more.

Here's what I want:

All draftees to be competitive. Hard working, tough, with a will to succeed above all else.
An outside mid that can compete on the inside when needed but works hard to spread when we have the ball to provide an option. Speed and the ability to hit targets by foot would be nice too.
An aggressive fearless inside mid who attacks each contest to win the ball, and does all the one percenters if he doesn't have the ball. AKA Peter Bampton.

You have to wonder whether Adelaide were happy to exchange pick #10 for pick #14 knowing they'll get their man at that pick.
It may well be a home grown product in Neal-Bullen or Bampton, that they'll reach for...............or maybe Cockatoo.

Watch The Eagles grab Pickett.
And leave Garlett for us? Right HBF ?

Peter Bampton last year in the SANFL seniors:

I love his drive to win the ball, and the shepherds or bumps when he doesn't have it. His kicking style is a bit awkward though.

Reminds me of Mitch Robbo... His kick is too big a concern for me

Just thinking about it and maybe it was Geelong that got into the heads of Adelaide and initiated the deal.

If so........................Pickett to The Cats. :)
It would be funny if Geelong picked Durdin @ 10 & took him away from Adelaide.

Read an article stating that the Eagles are under the impression that GWS will take Pickett with either pick 6 or 7. Could shuffle the top 10 around a bit.

Which is right of course.

2008 draft is interesting in that a couple of classy players were picked up early in Johnson & Lynch at #12 and #13, whilst a couple of more basic types were picked up much later, being #29 Beams and #30 Hannebery.

It's a tough gig being a recruiter :)

I don't think we are targetting talls this year, aside from a rookie listed ruckman.

In this draft there will be a lot of talls going early, which means midfielders and smalls are going to be around later. It was a calculated risk, we won't know until after the draft when Rogers gives us something. All I know is this. If we are going to win a premiership, we have to be brave.

There's a saying I love. "The greatest risk of all is to do nothing." Carlton cannot be said to have done nothing.

I like what you said Harker. Beams and Hannebery both just before 30. Imagine if we recuit two similar types with 19 and 28. Unlikely perhaps, but not impossible.

Nathan Drummond at pick 79?

Height: 181cm, Weight: 85kg, DOB: 19/01/1995

Overlooked at last year's draft but has blitzed many of the draft combine metrics.

Ready made midfielder; 20 by the start of the season.

Could be a smokey... I like the idea of using #61 on him. Don't know if he slides to #79.

At best I believe we play traditional. 2 KF and and 1 resting FWD/RUCK on the bench. This allows us to play more midfielders the likes of Judd/Murphy/Gibbs/Yarran/Walker(maybe menzel) etc in the forward line. Back half play 3 talls because every other team had it in there brain to play 3 forwards. Speed is key here and dominate midfielders are a must. The blues have an amazing list (despite what the critic's say) and should be really concentrating on that top 6 slot.

I think we looked most dangerous last season when we had three tall forwards on the ground.

For mine Henderson plays permanent forward, Kreuzer rucks for most of the game changing with Casboult in the forward line and one of either Jones or Watson plays forward as well.

It's good to see both Jones and Watson doing the hard yards early, i see that Jones has been working on things for the past few weeks and Watson was working away from the club as soon as the season finished.

Hopefully we finally have guys genuinely competing for spots in the team, it can only strengthen us moving forward.

Mmmmm, a very good year. ;)

Holy crapola, that reminds me... most of the draftees this year weren't even born when we last won a flag. :(
