I had Aish penciled into my SC no matter what team he went to. That being said, now he is at Brisbane I can't decide whether to go with Aish or Beams.

So are they both likely to be in the best 22?

In most people's best 22 they're fighting it out for one midfield spot. However going into the preseason games that thinking could change, because some of the midfield options that were higher under Voss may have slipped under Leppitsch.

Any views yet on Leppa's plans for Rocky? If he was going to be a permanent mid he would be a lock for my team regardless of losing DPP status this year.

Seems like most midfielders are going to spend time either forward or back this year so you'd think Rocky would be the same.

I guess all you can go on is 2013 form - the guy was one of the best few midfielders in the comp over the last 8 or so rounds. He stormed home in the Brownlow on the back of some remarkable midfield form. It doesn't seem to make a lot of sense for Leppa not to try and ride that wave. I am pretty confident Rocky will play a lot of midfield minutes.

I'm going to look at our round 1 team when making a decision on Rocky. If we include guys like McGuane, Paperone and Bewick (fringe forward players) he is more likely to play midfield, but if Lester, Crisp, Beams and Aish (fringe mids) are included he could play more as a forward. Personally I think he'll be in the guts this year. Rocky averaged 113 without Simon Black playing, as he played forward much less during that time. When Blacky got injured Rocky carved up at the end of the season. I'm expecting a 110+ year.
Edit: 113 avg in DT

As an aside...

My concern about the Brisbane rookies (I include Beams in that description) is that they look like prime candidates for the vest. When you look at Brisbane's best 25 or so, it is full of guys who are approaching full maturity in terms of the number of pre-seasons they have done. If you were predicting who would be the sub most often for the Lions, I think that, unless someone like McGrath becomes a Gia-type professional sub, that the role will be raffled between Aish, Beams and Mayes quite a lot.

So, for the likes of Beams and Aish, they not only face competition for their spots but also a strong chance of wearing the vest. Given neither is at a bargain basement price, I am looking elsewhere at this point. If Beams tears it up in the NAB Challenge, he could definitely make his way back into the mix.

Wouldn't have thought Mayes would get too many vests. Out of my best 22 there are very few prime vest candidates, just Aish and Beams, so I'm not going near them. You'd think the depth players/cash cows like Taylor and Zac O'Brien that come in to our team this year will be wearing vests quite a lot. There aren't any particularly good mid pricers for us either this year. Better just to focus on the premiums at Brisbane.

Will be interesting to see who cops the vests this year. We seem to want to pump games into Aish, so you would think he will cop a few In that we will favour vesting him to manage his workload so he can still play senior footy, rather than drop him out.

It might come down to structure too. Perhaps older players like Ash or Mcguane might take a vest spot here and there as well.

Yeah, it is interesting. With many raw rookies on the list you'd think we'd be forced most weeks to give it to a youngster who might not be able to run four quarters, rather than use it strategically.

My guess is that West and Leuenberger will start most games, and one of them will be subbed off in a lot of games.

Hey guys, I got burnt by Zorko last year, but seeing how cheap he is and reading some reports that he's having a great preseason I'm considering him again. Do you see him spending more time in the midfield or being played more as a small forward?

100avg in both SC/DT possible?

I think he should improve his average, priced at 76ishfrom memory. I think he can get this into the 90s, but not sure about 100. He will still play time forward, but with a new coach and new game plan it's hard to know how he will score up forward. The forward line was a bit of a dead zone for scoring under Voss, even a natural accumulator of the ball like Rocky struggled to get the pill in the first half of the year when he was stationed there.

It is possible that with Aish set to play senior games, HF is his likely position and this might push Zorko up the ground more. Zorko was drafted as a mid, so he can do well there. I think he is worth a shot, as youll make money from him at worst.

Been a couple of comments in the supercoach forum suggesting Lewis Taylor is injured but I can't find anything specific. Is he injured, and if so, what is the injury and prognosis? Thanks in advance.

He had surgery late last year after being drafted. He's been in the rehab group since.

For DT and it's not a finished product obviously. Have to wait out and see how Taylor, Clark, Shaw, Watts and Walker turn out with regards to injury. Pretty weak in some positions mainly 5th forward and defender. Not many 'cash cows' on the bench that give me much hope.

I am backing Hanley this year to bump his average to about 105. As for Aish & Beams I think the vest scenario is a fair call but I have Beams in my side at the moment, I am hoping he plays well in the NAB challenge matches. Also this this a supercoach in general thread or just brisbane players only?

Hey All,
Every year I have 4 leagues designated. Leaving one I always jump into late.

This year that 5th league will be a cash league.

$50 Entry.

Anyone welcome. First in best dressed, Will provide the league code once Money is cleared into account.

1st h/a : $275
2nd h/a : $125
3rd h/a : $50
1st finals : $300
2st finals : $150
(You can win two prizes potentially...)

18 spots so if u want in msg for Tfr details.

League will fill fast I imagine. Have been a BigFooty member for 5 years now regularly posting so most likely seen me around.

Dependent on how many queries I have I may set up two leagues and have a second officiator.

Happy Supercoaching!!

Is Cutler anywhere near getting a game for R1?
I think he'll have to go past quality 5th-year players if he is going to get a game, so no he's 100/1 for a starting spot in my book. Don't select Brisbane rookies even though other people will. The only one to even consider starting is Beams, but there are other players around that price like Young, Michie and Tyson who aren't going to get as many vests and will get more time in the guts.

whats everyones thoughts on Rich? Will he starting becoming a consistent 100+ pt player this year? I thought last year (dreamteam wise) he would breakout but was left disappointed.

I am in a Keepers draft league and into rd 11 no one is picking him up, and likely wont (non-lions supporters who didnt rate redden at all)
