Trading the captain is diabolical.

I can't recall anyone ever doing it.

Colbert requested a trade to North when Geelong skipper. But to be traded out when wearing the armband is not a good look for a club.

Sorry that this thread seems to be difficult to talk about. I was just throwing an idea out for discussion to give us something different to consider instead of ranting away (and don't worry I love a good rant). You will note I said I dont think we should or will. If you don't like or can't handle the tone/subject if the thread then don't read it. Freedom of speech n all that...

Apologies also if it's not in the correct sub-thread or super-thread or whatever.

... "worth a look players".

I have to say that I am getting pretty excited. I've put aside the heartbreak of last night, read a lot of "informed" posts on this board today, spent some time soul searching (33 seconds) and have realised the errors of my ways. We do have a list that needs shaking up big time so I think we should go for the world record in this years trade period and turnover the whole list (or as close to the whole list as possible).

Now to do this we need to look at some gems, maybe getting a game or two at other clubs, maybe languishing at a lower level or maybe just dead unlucky through injury or whatever. So here are some gems I've located for our recruiting people to ponder, listed club by club.

Adelaide: Clearly we should target Shaun McKernan. Hasn't been given a fair run over there in the city renowned for its sparkling clean water and of course we have the family connection and the come home factor in our favour. Sam Kerridge would be handy too to prevent him kicking multiple goals against us in the future.

Brisbane: Top of the list has to be Jordan Lisle. Surely will be a gun and like McKernan has the family/come home factors. If we can't get him then Brent Staker coming off a knee. Read somewhere at the beginning of the year that he is in the "elite" category of forward.

Carlton: Vinnies boy must surely now be our first call. Has played two good games in a row for the first time in his career and without a brain fade or getting injured. Will add experience. Carrazzo has also been a bit out of favour so maybe a sniff around at him. Also that boy Watson who plays down back might be available. And don't forget Garlett.

Collingwood: Marty Clarke immediately springs to mind because he will bring an Irish flavour. I know Ben Hudson has announced his retirement but he did say that if someone wanted a ruckman with one good arm he might reconsider.

*essendon: We really need to get some of *their boys into our club from * to really find out how well those drugs have worked. So far I have gone pretty tall so Del'olio would make a welcome change. But others we might look at are Pears, the untried Steinberg and I would really love to get the angry looking man, Hurley over to us, for reasons that will become apparent when we get to Hawthorn.

Fremantle: Kepler Bradley should be cherry ripe after his knee reconstruction. Probably out of our reach but Zac Clarke would be handy if only for the hair style. (I didn't consider Zac the hack because he would only come if Rossy Lyon was to come too.)

Geelong: There is some real class at the Cats not getting a look in. Brown, Smedts and Sheringham would be well worth a look.

Gold Coast: Tom Murphy. The go home factor would be huge with him (on the assumption he is from Victoria) and he is a tough as nails player as evidenced by his recent suspension. And why don't we throw the kitchen sink at Karmichael Hunt to try to convince him to change his mind?

GWS: A big fish here. Tom Scully because we would get his Dad as well. Otherwise Josh Hunt would provide premiership experience and also the go home factor.

Hawthorn: Shoey is a shoe in for mine. Imagine if we got him and Hurley to fill the two key defensive posts. We would be the leaders in fashion with two blokes whose weird hair styles will convince some of those East German and Chinese Olympic athletes that woman do play Aussie rules. But if we can't get him then Kyle Cheney has played some good games for the Hawks this year and would welcome a chance at his third AFL club.

Melbourne: A rich field to choose from here. Strauss, Nicholson, Fitzpatrick and Gawn to pick from here.

Port Adelaide: Renouf the ex Hawk premiership player and Redden look likely types, while Mitchell, who is on the fringe should be a key target. Would help make our team look a lot uglier too.

Richmond: Dea and O'Hanlon look hard done by down there at tigerland. Just to keep the come back from a knee contingent well stocked, Knights, who is a handy footballer, might be worth a look too.

St. Kilda: Milera and Dennis-Lane look like the pick of the bunch. (Such a pity Kosi retired last year.)

Sydney: Derrickx has been very handy up there in Sin City this year and he too may like to return to Melbourne.

Western Bulldogs: Some real gems here. Jarrad Grant. Leisel Jones and Brett Goodes head the list. We are obviously into Higgins in a big way so we will have a real western suburbs flavour if we take on these boys.

West Coast: I'm a bit stumped here apart from the boy Hill. No doubt though if we spoke nicely to Simmo he would be very happy to help us unload Spitta in exchange for one of their boys.

I suppose in regenerating the list to this extent, we need to find a coach to match the team. One name immediately springs to mind. Mark Neeld. We must leave no stone unturned but if we fail here then maybe Terry Wallet is worth a look along with Matty Primus and Scotty Watters.

So there it is. A ripping list of players that if we play our cards right we could surely snare and lead us long into the second half of this decade.

A club would have to offer big over's to North to consider trading Swallow. You just don't trade your captain, one of your best players and perhaps more importantly someone who is loyal that could have gone else where for a lot more $$$.

Chris Judd???

yep he mentioned it was the bulldogs on Triple M... Good on the bulldogs for going out and trying to get a player they want.

I'd be doing the same with Dangerfield, make him and the crows an offer that's hard to knock back. The risk of him leaving through free agency must be a concern.

If you don't ask and if you don't try you don't get.

Hi. Have been looking at BigFooty for a few years. Thought I would give it a go at posting.
Would you look at Dean Towers 189cm 87kg has speed.
Out of contract. Maybe be a delisted free agent.

If Waite and Higgins are our targets, then keep the wallet in the back pocket and wait for a real talent in 2016. Higgins is as injury prone as Narni and Waite is 30. Forget it.
