Well IMO the only tradeables that I can see are golby, bewick, Staker, Maguire, merrett and possibly harwood. Nothing that would move beams even when packaged with our first pick so instead of saying go hard at him, let me know what you guys are thinking, cause there is no point in getting beams at all costs if that means giving up redden, rich, rockliff, zorko (our depth)
Agree with all that except Bewick- I think he is going to be a gun

And Harwood I'd happily trade out

I'm actually bored with the Ryder and Beams thing already. Any other rumours going around?

Ben Kennedy seen having coffee with Sanderson. Was going to post the Michael Jackson popcorn gif on their board but didn't want to get banned. Need to witness the meltdown.

Why not? What's wrong with Banfield?
Which one is he again?

Straight swap for Lyons? He's publicly said he wouldn't mind a trade away from Adelaide

Merrett copped a lot more than his fair share this season as well.
Yeah but Merrett is an A Grade whipping boy. Irreplaceable on the list. Polks was seriously B grade and Banners could fill the gap nicely.

here's a tought re: Beams.

Should the Pies learn from us? we left our premiership era thikning that Power, Black, Brown, Bradshaw would be enough to build our next era around. We didn't make that happen as the likes of Scott(s), Voss, Aker, Leppa and co slowly broke down on our list through 2005-2007 and with poor drafting from 2003-2007.

The pies have Pendlebury, Cloke, Beams, Reid as their equivalent guns. (swan perhaps the equivalent of Voss or whatever post premiership era). Others like Sidebottom, Grundie, McAffer, Fasolo, Elliott etc are perhaps equivalent (but better than) McGrath, Copeland, Charman, Merritt, Adcock , Brennan, Rischitelli, who debuted for us from 2001-2005.

Would Collingwood be better off properly bottoming out and actually actively seeking to trade Beams now and 'skip' a generation by adding Pick 4 (and there existing Pick 8/9) to Scharenberg and Freeman who were top 10 picks last year along with there 23 and under generation like Elliot, Sidebottom, Thomas, Broomhead, Kenneddy, Witts, Grundy, Adams

This compares to our group which has Rich, Redden, Leuenberger, Rockliff, Hanley as our best players and all between 24 adn 26 where Beams 24 fits in perfectly.

its semantics in a way but all the great teams always have big bunches of players coming through in similar age brackets... might work well for both of us to focus on our current crop of 24-26 yo's supported by our 18-20yo's and Pies focusing on anyone 23 and under with experience of Pendles, Cloke, Reid to guide them the next 3 seasons.

As I see it we are closer to our next premiership than they are at the moment. I guess I'd be suggesting they accept that and look to where their next premiership is actually coming from.
