Yeah but Merrett is an A Grade whipping boy. Irreplaceable on the list. Polks was seriously B grade and Banners could fill the gap nicely.

I don't see how Banfield would fill any need we might have now or in the future given when he left he was close to the least effective player on our list and has not done anything since to indicate things have changed.

Even the mention of it would send fans into meltdown. If it looks like a rebuild, smells like a rebuild, it's most definitely not a rebuild.

We have a major hole in players we blame for everything! Who's going to drive Leppa's kids to school? His lawn isn't going to mow itself.

Ok if we are going to target players that are still contracted why don't we go hard for Jeremy Cameron he fits our needs, is a proven player and someone I wouldn't mind throwing cash at or draft picks to get him. Just a thought. Would be very difficult to make happen

The difference is there's actually smoke around Ryder and Beams in the media about our interest in them. People aren't just pulling these names out of the air.

You look into the last page of this thread, every so often to see if there is any real news/signs of progress.
And you wonder why Essendon & Collingwood are causing us Lion's supporters, this stress & inconvenience. Just get on with trading Ryder & Beams to us. Haven't we been put through enough over the last 2 years???

The Beams thing is pure lunacy IMO. There is absolutely no way known he will be here in 2015 and he would be at very slim odds in 2016.
Most players love playing at Collingwood and he has shown no desire to return to Queensland. If the Pies are to rebuild they will need a player like him to work around, and will hold onto him til their dying breath.

A rebuild doesnt mean just trading all your players above the age of 25

I think their fans might prefer someone saying 'we have a plan' rather than more signings like Q Stick, Jesse White and loss of more players like Thomas, Shaw and potentially Beams where they look like they out not in control of the situations.
