Good insight on Menzel from Pyke, basically confirmed

- Pyke has been pleased with Troy's pre-season

- Menzel has virtually done no pre-season in 3 years

- building his conditioning was a key focus

- Troy has embrace the challenge that he needed to improve his conditioning

- Troy has done a mountain of work, not missed a beat and has made great strides in his conditioning

Conclusion it pretty much echoes what I have been saying for some weeks now

Was expecting to hear a few positive words from Pyke re Menzel...after he kinda got thrown under the bus a little the other day

Nah ......no, no, no .......we can't have it !!!!!!! ........simply impossible that we agree ;)
I was hesitant to but now 1970crow's come out and is prepared to cop the likely admonishment by the naysayers as well I'm in!

Always thought Sam Shaw had something to offer the AFC if he could get his body right...fingers crossed in that regard.

He said he wasn't fit enough to play midfield and then everyone ran with "Pyke blasts unfit Menzel" type shit.

It's funny how people interpreted that story

Troy has made some good strides however to go to a midfield level he will need another 12 months with another pre-season

It's just not possible to fit two pre-seasons into one

I'm not sure we've got a spot for him, but he's got plenty of talent even though he mightn't get a chance. My conspiracy theory is that he'll be elsewhere in 2017 and due to bring contracted, we'll get something for him.

Well, it's now two pre-seasons without any hamstrings .......so he's getting continuity & undoubted confidence in his body ......hopefully that confidence will reflect in good form ......the club has persevered with Shaw for a good reason

Oh he's no walk up start by any stretch of the imagination........but there's no excuses now

Not sure. I'd have him ahead of VB and Cheney if it was me but Lever's probably ahead of both of them. I'd have him first to cover a Talia injury or Hartigan injury/form, but Otten might be the early favourite with the coaches. And that's before we factor in either or both Hampton/Seedsman possibly being considered off a HBF. I'm not convinced he'll get a genuine chance unless we suffer a rough injury trot. But I'd be very keen to see him and Lever replace VB and Cheney from our last played backline group.

That will be great result, hopefully plays well in 4 or 5 games and we trade him for a reasonable pick
