Exactly. Pav is not the powerhouse he once was, and we are still top of the ladder. If we can acquire a decent enough key forward for next season then there's no reason we couldn't finish on top again.

Wouldn't have thought we draft bootsma if you want to waste a rookie spot miles well get Brendon's jones as reward for service or I've heard Garrick McLaughlin has been tearing it up in the reserves
Cannot see us rookie listing Bootsma but that is just my opinion, rookie to someone like Marcus Adams as a backup forward seems better.
Also we need to take three in the draft so that would mean picking up a 4th rounder as well.
I am mixed about Schulz. We get him it allows Pav and McPharlin to play bit parts next year or not at all if they retire/get injured. We have coverage in defence with Silvagni and AP and Shculz would play up forward with Tabs if Pav is not around or rested. I just would not like to see Tabs's development hindered and obviously Schulz is only going to be a two year prospect. Also Schulz is a great kick for goal - how does he go in contested marking with our tendency to bomb it in hope versus hitting up the leading forward?
Problem would be too good of a draft period. I swear everytime a club "kills it" during trade week they end up not meeting expectations the following year. It's like the players read the paper too and think it's just going to happen now the calvary has arrived.

As far as I'm aware the club have said nothing publicly and I doubt they would until after our season has finished.

I'd like to arrange for Freo's mental health medical officer (or whoever is filling that role) to talk to Gold Coast's matching pair, with Harley's blessing, to discuss in confidence what Harley has been working through and what needs to be done to continue that care if he would like to come to Freo.
Then without putting his issues on the table for everyone to see the mental health officer can give the thumbs up or down on whether we can work with him.

I think we suffer from a general perception in the AFL that our window is closing after this year, which is why some players spurn us. That and perhaps some prefer the more open, high scoring, style of play that WC and Port go for (as a forward you would probably prefer it).
Not sure how Bennell will go out West. He is likely to have more bad seeds around him over in Perth always nagging him to head out on the town, snuff a few lines etc. Frustrating to see all these players go to competitors though.

Classified suggest we're into Kreuzer. 26 year old Restricted Agent. Unlikely as the Pies are also keen but would be a nice succession to Sandi.

I still think I'd prefer Jetta over Bennell and I wouldn't imagine we'd get both.
Jetta strikes me as coming from club that has valued discipline and team comittment over individual glory and i think he would slot right in with no disruptions.
