Article on the afl app about why you need to know about the Gf.
1st: it asks that seeing if it will likely be the last tilt for some ageing stars, how unsociable will we be?--------- GAGF
2nd: it says hodge hurt his leg in the prelim. Any news on that?

Just happened to smash Richmond in that game at MCG . How did Hawfies stack up against Richmond ,

I never saw the game so I don't know, but why do I keep hearing people say West Coast smashed Richmond? They won by 20 points after kicking away in the 3rd and then only managed to kick 1.4 to 0.4 in the last qtr.

Yep, absolutely flogged them. o_O

I think west coast will have too much run in the legs. Our schedule, the weather, not in our favor

My concern as well

Hopefully we are brave with selection though. We have the best list in the comp and (relatively) clean bill of health

That said if that's prime amongst our considerations we are in a solid position.

We are 1-1 (both at Subiaco - albeit one without Nic Nat, the other without Priddis) playing an inexperienced team on our home ground

Couldn't be in better shape but it will be close

Agree mate, but hopefully they are a bit flat with the nervous energy they'll expend before the game starts.

The experience difference is massively in our favour obviously, so with any luck we'll break them physically and mentally early much like last year

SO Woosha is choosing the eagles to win...mr pharmacist as usual showing his true colours...can't wait to see him fail at the Scum, won't know what hit him...he'll fit right in at that dump.

Are we sure that we will have to wear white shorts if WCE wear royal blue? I know Freo had to in 2013 but last year both clubs wore their coloured shorts, which they wear for home games.

A 20 pt win is a belting :drunk:

What's your record like at the MCG (we are 44/11 since round 1 2012) you xenophobic ****
Yep 20 points is a belting , just be happy , rejoice in your own x..... mate you got a home final free . Our record there this year with this team and coach is 100% . Our legs will be fresher . No fear mate is all i am saying

Who cares who people tip?

Ultimately it counts for nought when it matters most...

Billy out.
Gunners in.
Suckers sub.

Shoey must stay. Not for sentiment. Not because it would be a nice story. He must stay on form. He's our contesting creating big forward. Been worth his weight in gold.

This times 1,000,000.

We know from the first final that the Eagles game plan is tailored to force a long kick. The hawks have to find a way to combat this, but also have to accept that at times it is going to work. And when the Hawks are forced into a long kick we need someone under it who can compete. Schoe is about the only bloke we have, especially with all the eagles talks Dow the other end keeping Lake/Frawley/Gibson busy

Awesome so you had a 20 pt 'smashing' ( :drunk: ) against a listless Richmond side - I understand we lost to them this year but we typically do in premiership years anyway

Enjoy the week but be mindful you are on our board you xenophobic tosspot

so 3 goals 2 is a belting? You have just embarrassed yourself, you have 20 seconds to say something witty or leave the room in shame. Since the first option is not an option for you, I suggest the second.

I dont belt very hard simple . Plus Hawthorns losing margins are small so 20 points was big in the context

the web explained small.jpg
Dont pretend you know how the web works, nobody does...

Actually it's pretty simple technique that requires great coordination and discipline.

The web is another version of Clarko's cluster but with one difference. Instead of a general zone, you create layers of defence which can dynamically move with the movement of the ball. The idea is to have a line of defence at critical spaces between the ball carrier and the attacking targets. So you setup the layers or web of defence at interval that way you have players to contest no matter what the ball carrier decides to do. Importantly, it also allows the team to have an avenue of attack as soon as the ball is won back. The opposition will likely be caught out and a switch and hard running ensures that you can get them on the counter without them being able to get back in time. IT seems the way to beat the web is to play one on one like Kangaroos did in the first term. Don't allow West Coast to have the counter attack option. But North could not keep it going. It's a very exhaustive way of defending if your players are not as skilled as theirs.

A few selection dilemmas for this week.
I noticed Billy was brought into the game very late last friday. Im sure Clarko was trying to avoid exposing him to crunching tackles given his lack of build. However his jets would be very handy on the mcg against the running eagles. So does he stay in as sub?

Does either of Hale or McEvoy go at the expense of Ceglar? Will he play three quaters for Box Hill? Can we afford H and Mc playing against Nat?

Shoe looks pretty good to stay in the team. As much as id love to see a fit Gunstan play, i suspect that if its an ankle injury he wont be right to play a full game .

The eagles run is the real thing that concerns me. However the wider mcg should be a better fit for our chip and mark game.

Nervous and excited!! Cant wait!!

No troll guys. Just wanted to congratulate your boys on another year of setting the competition benchmark. To have the opportunity to play against you on Grand Final day is something I'm proud of as an Eagles fan and completely unexpected to be honest. Not in my wildest dream did I see us playing off in the big dance this year especially once we lost Mackenzie and Brown to long term injuries.

As an Eagles fan I'm going in pessimistic, your favourites and so you should be. I can just see a bit to much class over the midfield and your knowledge of how to play the MCG will play in your benefit.

To get to play against you is something I'm holding dear right now, we are the envy of 16 other clubs who wanted to play off in the first weekend of October. Your a class football club at AFL & VFL level (Box Hill in another grandy today) and class fans. Unlike who you played on Friday.

I'm sure as now 4 times in succession Grand Finalists you know what to expect as fans from GF week but just wanted to wish you well for the week ahead and it's my hope that the Eagles can feast on juicy Hawk next Saturday :D :footy:
