I hope so, but you never know what's going to happen until game day.

I didn't think they gave the Eagles enough credit, they're a quality team (they have to be to get this far!). Yes a lot of the Hawks had a down game during the QF..... but a lot of that was due to the pressure the Eagles were putting the Hawks under, rather than every player playing as though they had an all night bender and decided to put on the footy boots.

I am really worried about the outcome, more worried than 2013 (the hype almost got to me) and even 2014 where I was convinced Sydney were going to smash them. I can't be greedy as back to back flags is special. I just hope if any team is going to have a bad day at the office, it's the Eagles.

My feeling too. His comments in the presser after the prelim had me gobsmacked, saying we went into the qualifying final badly prepared. Badly prepared my ****! Clarko would never do that or allow the team to do that. He knew exactly what he was doing I'm sure.

He went in to experiment and failed? I don't think losing was on the agenda and they made some weird coaching moves. I don't think the team was on.

Bad day at the office which won't be repeated this Saturday.

So basically you just get worried before every GF and think we will get smashed every year?

Nah the premise of that thread is shit and completely ignorant to football history :drunk:

Haha.

It's comparing clubs from one point in time to another to fairly adjust for teams who entered the competition late.

You're the one being ignorant.

Not sure what you mean.

He didn't intend to lose, that was the outcome. He tried certain tactics which didn't come off, nothing to do with being badly prepared. Agree the team was not on and don't expect the same result either.

Except 1990 has no relevence whatsoever

If you wanted to do this properly you should have looked at the following time periods

1897 onwards (the original 8)
1909 onwards (Rich / Uni onwards)
1925 onwards (Foots / NM / Haw onwards)
1987 onwards (BB / WCE onwards)
1991 onwards (Adel onwards)
1995 onwards (Frem onwards)
1997 onwards (PA onwards)
2011 onwards (GC onwards)
2012 onwards (GWS onwards)

Ive done this assessment (in fact it used to be my signature on my profile) and Hawthorn top all milestone dates since 1925

...win on Saturday and you have to go back to 1914 to find another club that can match our 13 flags

No need to worry about West Coke and the pissant Cats

Same old shit different year. 2013 it was Freo's manic pressure, 2014 it was $hitneys class, now it's WC web. Please I've heard it all before. All I know is WC are in for a rude awakening!!!

We will play the Hawthorn way and show these clowns what it is all about.

This

Its ridixulous that after 5 GF's in 8 years a high portion of our posters still buy into this shit :drunk:

Have old the story multiple times but in a nutshell yes. The only time I was confident in was 2012..... Things went pear shape in the second quarter lol.

Comparing other games - I was content with being the bridesmaid against Geelong in 2008, didn't think Hawthorn remotely had a chance until the second quarter.

I did think we were as safe as houses in the 80's, but I was young and viewed them as invincible.

This ... Gold. Do it Hawks. If you really wants it no one is going to stop you - no one.

The last time we played the Eagles a few weeks ago the coaching staff got a number of things wrong. This time Lake will not play on Kennedy. Chip Frawley will get first crack. Suckling is no longer playing in defense where he's exposed, playing high up the ground as a wing/half forward. Schoenmakers over the last two games has given us a target up forward allowing Roughead to spend more time in the center. We go into the Grand Final in better form then we did in the Qualifying Final.

And Dr Dre was the sub I think

After playing 2012 GF not 100% fit, if there's any doubt I wouldn't be suprised to see Hodge pull out. I'm sure they'll get him right, but if not: lose a soldier and replace him with another.

Difference then was Hodge was never fit for the entire 2012. This year and right now he is generally fit and in form. Unless it really is a hamstring that poses a real risk he will definitely play.

OP thread should be renamed with the above.

It's a bloody huge risk keeping him in if he's a risky proposition of breaking down - especially within the first quarter.

You can't carry multiple proppy players in the most important game of the year, I feel uneasy enough as it is just with the notion that Gunston is playing.
