Hi from Sri Lanka too. For Melbornians 25+ is hot and for us 30 is natural. Care to visit for a holiday?
It can hit 35-40° in Melb....but its a dry heat .

Sri lankan humidity....no thanks.

I felt his use of Frawly last time with Eagles was more to confuse them. He will be used in the back pocket against Kennedy this week and he will do a good job.
We can give Clarko a lot of credit but I guarantee you him playing Frawley up forward for half that game was nothing but a coaching blunder - something that he has since admitted to, if not actually specifically referencing that call.

He was seduced by Frawley kicking a few against minnows in the games leading up. It will be exceptional circumstances that see Frawley go forward at any point on Saturday.

If we see Frawley go forward it will be one of two extremes - we will either be smashing them in which case it won't matter or it will be an act of desperation in which case it will probably already be a lost cause.

The ones I were thinking were:
1. We're desperate because our KPF aren't giving us anything or they're off injured. Either way we're ****ed.
2. West Coast are struggling with our talls and in a desperate move they throw Kennedy back and Frawley just goes along too. Kennedy would never go back though.
3. Kennedy gets subbed due to injury and Clarko feels like the backline can handle their other forwards without him so throw him forward.
4. Both Schoey (if he plays) and Frawley aren't working in their roles so they switch ends.

Anyone hear Newbold say today that he'd be really happy to see west coast win? They cut it up in a sound bite on the news and it didn't sound flash. Anyone hear the full context by any chance?

I don't care about the context, it is absolutely stupid to even contemplate something as inane as that!!! Couple of years a go, newbold said before the geelong prelim, " we see them as just another team in front of us on our way to the flag" so, why the soft stance all of a Sudden??? In fact, the club seems very relaxed and not excited t all, making it out like just another big game!! No it's not, Eagles will be feerocious and I hope we are ready! Poor choice of words by newbold who I've still not quite warmed to.

Makes me feel like we're a cult or something, wishing happiness and joy for our opposition, at our expense, for the goodness of all

Yep, well reason I asked if there was more to it (possibly media cutting up a provocative sound bite) is cos my first reaction was the same as you blokes. Disgust. Clarko and the boys would be rapt to hear it on the drive home too you'd think.

Innovation and staying ahead of the game doesn't happen without experimentation and the occasional blunder. What's important is he learnt from it. I'd rather that than play it safe and be mediocre. As painful as losing the 2012 granny was at the time, it was probably one of the main reasons we became more potent and less buddy-centric.

I totally agree. Definitely prefer him trying stuff out. But Frawley playing forward was based on questionable results against poor sides and it was pretty clear (not just in hindsight) that the Kennedy Lake match up was tenuous at best. He could've tried it later on if we were winning by enough.

Maybe it was less of an experiment, and more of a training drill. Clarko knows that our big forwards are not performing well (hitting packs, taking contested grabs, etc - well, at least prior to Schoey hitting the packs), so he wanted to give Frawley chance to get used to being a forward in case he was forced to swing him up there. Less about trying to find an amazing new tactic, more about being prepared for the worst if we're not able to kick goals in the big dance and need to change stuff up.
