Plowman, Weitering & Giles (fingers crossed) could setup our KP defence stocks for 10 years!!!!
Now to get some help for Jaksch forward and we could be ok.
Am I being too positive again????? lol
Yeah, watch that.......

GWS website has him at 192cm. So is between a third tall and a key defender.
Yeo from the Eagles is actually shorter an has played as a KPD for many a week in the absence of there tall defenders
Has 3-4 cm on Gibson. Rance is 194cm

Edit if we are pursing this guy, what does that do for our plans re: Carlisle?
I like what they are doing shows a full rebuild/ freshen up of our backline for the future and not just quick fixes. It's no secret Jamison, Rowe and White are getting old and input is dropping so bringing in Carlise, Weitering and Plowman is a great start. Add Docherty, Touhey and Bucks and I'm happy with that backline going forward.

I reckon we can find a place for Plowman and Carlisle in the 22.

Carlisle/Weitering at FB/CHB and Plowman as the third tall. Jamo might be vice captain of the Northern Blues is this comes to pass and all three do well... also means Rowey might struggle to get a game, which would only mean we're improving.

I am deadset not budgeting Jamo into any future line-up permutations.

We need players of his experience for the rebuild though. This is were he becomes really important over the next 2 years.
He supports and steers Weitering, Plowman and the like until they are ready. He might not play all 22 games but will be invaluable to have in the side and around as needed.

Any defender would look frail and unreliable when they're trying to mind 3 tall forwards because Rowe spotted a butterfly and Tuohy can't reach their shoulders at full stretch.
Working beautifully today, B_B. You idiot. :thumbsu::D

I just hope Bolts sits down with KJ and the fitness staff and build his endurance and strength so he can play that athletic CHF we crave.

I would also love a forward/development coach that was actually a KEY forward.

Someone who could provide some insight and guidance on how to play the role.

Quiet day at the office, and I've still got a few hours yet before I can punch out. Without BF I'd be resorting to the "Random Article" function on Wikipedia... :p

Probably a bit harsh on Rowe, he does try, but he just seemed to get caught ball watching pretty regularly. Very frustrating seeing tall forwards getting a metre or two of free space before he even realised they'd taken off. We were undermanned down back for most of the year because we insisted on playing Hendo up front, and Jamo's the one who cops a fair bit of the flack when he really should be playing a third tall support role at this point of his career.

Agree. Rowe NOT Jamo has been our biggest disappointment in defence this season. Just has no reactionary speed, awareness and is dropping marks a pre-schooler has no trouble with. Wouldn't be surprised if Sam is delisted.

We need more blokes telling the coach the position they'll play.

I don't want players that tell the club how to run things. But I also don't want a club playing players out of position.

If you draft Carlisle, plonk him at CHB and don't move him unless you have a damn fine excuse.

I think he is more key defender then not actually.

Undersized in the Josh Gibson mould.

Or at least that is how I recall him during his draft year

He considers himself like Harry Taylor as far as reading the play and like Andrew Mackie as far as setting up play from the backline. Pace and strength were the two knocks he had on himself. Tells me he is not a KPD but a third tall who likes to get up field.

Scouts/coaches have suggested he will have midfield capabilities.

Kyte said if Plowman had played a full season he might have rivalled Lachie Whitfield for the No.1 pick, and backed Plowman to develop midfield capabilities.

THE LACHIE PLOWMAN FILE

AGE: 18
HEIGHT: 191cm
WEIGHT: 86kg
FROM: Calder Cannons
POSITION: Key defender
DRAFT RANGE: 3-9
IN THE MIX: GWS (3), Dogs (6), Lions (8)
PLAYS LIKE: Andrew Mackie

Josh Gibson types are a bit of a rarity in terms of holding down a key post IMO. With his height, reading of the play and his creativity, I still think third tall and a possible move into the midfield is where he is at.

This video suggests recruiters thought he could become a burst midfielder.

His form guide in the NEAFL and AFL shows he is hit and miss against taller opponents.

Really a pinch hitting tall, not one of your two KPDs, a tall flanker with potential cameos in the midfield from what I can see. AFL different to the U18s where he was holding his own as a KPD.

Plowman definitely sounds like he is a Andrew Mackie type player. Not a KPP. If we could get Carlisle along with Weitering, they would hold down the key posts, with Plowman more doing the third man up/rebounding role.

Certainly an upgrade on White. A taller more attacking Laidler type I reckon.

Like the idea of replacing guys like White while they're still playing. Should make it easier to mentor and take the pressure off the replacements. Plowman for the right price would be a great bargain.

One of the highlights of 2011 was the way Laidler and Duigan left their men to kill off attacking forays with monotonous regularity. Past masters at reading the flight of the ball and supporting their tall defenders. Plowman will be that for us.

However, if Melbourne are into him too, he was a mad Demons fan. Inside running for sure.
