Apparently Essendon will be asking for Jeremy Howe and the Dee's first for Melksham

So we should prepare for them to ask for the No.1 for Carlilse hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

**** I despise that awful, drug cheating, salary cap cheating, sashed bunch of campaigners they call a football club.

**** Essendon*

by 'cheaply' you mean we get to keep any picks in the first round and him not suffer a 2 year ban?

If we get Weitering and Sergio's grandson on the park,
with help from Jaksch and a rebuilt Giles and Foster,
some will be asking in round 1 2018,
"Jake who?
Glad we didn't waste a top 20 pick on him..."

Really? I've only heard about a potential straight swap for Watts or just their second rounder.

What would you guys expect for Yarran from Richmond?

Their first. First alone. Which is obviously significantly lower than Melbournes first and without adding in a player of Howe's ability either.

Are you trying to compare Yarran to Melksham? Trust me there is no comparison.

No - I'm not at all - I'd happily take Melbourne's second for Melksham.

I was more thinking if you did get Richmond's first (About 11/12 I think), would you then be willing to trade that for Carlisle?

I wouldnt. I think Carlisle is worth around #20 due to being out of contract, the fact we can threaten the PSD and the fact he could be banned.

Fair enough, but if it's a competitive process, and the Hawks and Saints are interested as well, don't you think the OOC/PSD becomes comes less of an issue?

My understanding of the PSD is that if it comes to that, he'll have to accept whatever salary you offer him - is that correct?

Value wise ... probably.

Risk wise ... maybe that and also swap your #24 for our #39.

Wrong - He puts a price on his head and then it is the lowest placed side prepared to pay up that gets to draft him

It'll be interesting to see what happens. I reckon all considered, he's probably worth pick 10, but then again, I'm probably not entirely subjective. Only another 4 weeks of wild speculation before we know.

All considered? Does that take into account 2015 form and the threat of WADA?

What would he be worth without that hanging over his head?

I would but with some decent change coming back our way. I think JC's value for us is around 8-12 if he was contracted. He's not so we hold a pretty strong hand, more so if he is agreeable to coming to Carlton, and we can threaten PSD.

Assuming you get Melb's 2nd rndr for Melksham

I'd start with an ambit claim something like:

We trade #12, #28, #38, #64 for Carlisle, #23, #25 #41

Which is clearly very heavily in our favour largely due to the WADA thing, (not much of a risk IMO but we'd wave it around like it is), uncontracted status and PSD threat.

My take on it is that his 2015 form is almost entirely due to our mismanaging him, and I think even if CAS did overturn the verdict, the penalty would be minimal, so neither should effect what was offered substantially - say a difference of 4-5 spots in the draft.

Without WADA, or being out of contract, I'd think he's worth about pick 5.

If he puts 700k on his head no body might draft him (though you would think his manager would make a few calls prior)

The Saints have supposedly offered him the 700K, so I suppose that probably makes them front runners. If it's them that we're dealing with, I suspect we'll settle for 2 second rounders (one this year, and one next year). Many on their board seem to think that's too much, and many on ours seem to think it's too cheap, so it's probably about right.
