Only bright light is first pick on whoever the best play available. Then next pick on bailey, pick after that on jack.

How long were Jones and Tutts contract?

Turnover at end of the year Jones, Tutt, Ellard, Warnock, Watson, Ellard, Armfield (tries but still just a list filler), White, Dick

Carrazzo to retire

Losing today (and I hate saying this) is the best thing for the club going forward. We are not a top 14 team. My worry had we won today would be the club would be still thinking we are a chance to play finals and clearly we are not.

We will still steal a few wins this year. Its all part of football. But the realisation now to the supporters and especially the club should be in the front of our minds of how bad we have become.

I don't believe a rebuild takes 5 years. Make big, but tough calls come the end of the year on 2-3 of our best players and pick up extra first rounders and this rebuild will only take 2-3 years. We have leaders (and young guns) in Cripps and Doc. Both will be exceptional players for us. We just need to cash in this year and get this rebuild to tale off.

We must walk away from this year finishing in the bottom 2. Secure 5 picks in the top 30 and let SOS do his job.

Happy for one of those picks (16-20) to go to Brisbane for Aish and a pick 30-40 to come back our way. Also happy to send a pick (5-10) to Gws for Shiel and a pick 25-35 to come back our way.

We must hold onto a high amount of picks in this year's draft along with not over paying for guns.

Maybe with pick 1 we get change with Shiel but atm pick 2 to 4 or 5 youll get him and add steak knives he is that good. See Boyd trade.

If we land pick 1 or 2 then we stick the first on Weitering. Unless there is a midfielder who is Petracca like in front of the others.

As for trading we simply cannot afford to make sideways trades i.e gibbs out aish in, we get no where (example only) and this is where SOS makes his money. If we lose a big name it has to be turned into a GWS style trade like last year. I really hope we are into Dixon and enquire about Mitchell again.

Difference is with Shiel and Boyd is that Boyd was contracted and Shiel isn't. Kid oozes class but until he signs on, he isn't worth pick 1-2, especially if he picks a club.

Happy to go Mitchell and Dixon, but only if they come at the right price. I don't mid sideways trades, especially if it's for someone much younger. A straight swap Gibbs for Aish would damage us, but if Gibbs does get traded and we do go after Aish, a first round pick is too high but it's probably what will need to happen to get him. I'd expect us to want a pick mid to late 2nd round to be thrown in if we gave up a pick 15 or so.

Now is the time to strike on Aish, especially if he keeps stinking it up. Think our second pick would probably do it tbh

Why do we always have to trade our picks? How about we trust our recruiters, pick some decent 18yr olds and develop them, develop a team and develop a culture. Rather than a patchwork quilt.

Watching the likes of Cockatoo & Lever show so much in their first years make me even more nervous if we'd got that trade (#7 for #19) right last year... God I hope it works out.

Gibbs - First round pick
Walker - 2nd round pick
Tuohy - late 2nd round pick

If we can only get a late first round pick for Gibb's I'd use that for Aish.

Trade out the passengers and start the rebuild.
Dunno about that, BM.

I'd force Judd, Carrazzo and Simpson to retire. (Great players, but need to move on).

Delist - Ellard, Armfield, Jones, Watson and unfortunately Giles, Holman and Johnson

Put Murphy, Gibbs and Walker on the trade table.

The rest can hang on for one more year

Apply more focus on the draft and ensure that no free agents come out of the club. They need to ensure they get something in return.

Mitchell, Dixon, Shiel are the players we should really be going after, good attitude, extroverts and constantly perform.

With Aish apart from being i high draft pick whats the reason for going after him?

Bang on

Sensible analysis and realistic trade scenarios

I couldn't have said it better in fact I surely couldn't have

Well done

I think something most of us haven't thought about is the very real prospect Murphy has played his best football

The game changes rapidly these days

The game is now about big bodied mids

Murphy is a midget who gets rag dolled

I'm not sure he can impact on ball much anymore

He's only chance is to run and run or even play forward which he did a fair bit today

I am not sure but I think maybe his best football is behind him unless he goes to a top club where he doesn't have to win as much hard ball as he does at the Blues

Arguably we should consider trading him as much as the inoffensive Gibbs

Gibbs - First round pick
Walker - 2nd round pick
Tuohy - late 2nd round pick

If we can only get a late first round pick for Gibb's I'd use that for Aish.

Trade out the passengers and start the rebuild.

Surprisingly, Walker may get more than that if he was to go to a club in the premiership frame. Just use North as an example, they are going "all in" to pinch a flag whilst they still have Petrie, Boomer & co. Getting a player like Walker may be the last part of the jigsaw puzzle and given that he is already playing senior footy every week, he is worth more to North in their quest.

I thought the darkest days for our club were ten years ago when we had players like french, setanta, an out of shape whitnall etc.. but seems like I was wrong
I feel for SOS... at GWS he got free kicks from the AFL to build a semi decent list fast, and now people will expect more of the same.. the poor bastard has a much weaker hand to play now though..
I left the Gibbs-is-trade-bait bandwagon after the Geelong game last year, but now I think I may be getting back on it...
