Thats a good thing in terms of evening up the competition. Did we really want Hawthorn getting a top 3 pick for Buddy?
No but he was worth every bit of what we gave up for Judd by way of a trade.

I am just not a fan of free agency at all. Would prefer some sort of independent arbitrators ruling on trades if a player wants to move and either club in the trade is being unreasonable in what they want to take or give.

the club pick up FA should be compensated toward club losing out on a Star. e.g Swans send first rounder to Hawk for Franklin, cheap pick up and no other club should be disavantaged

Jaksch still has that timid approach rather than aggression. You can see in some contests it's almost like he second guesses what he should do as he's doing it. It appears to be mostly between the ears with him. Hopefully he can sort that out over pre season.
From all reports jaksch is just going through the motions not working hard enough to become a great player, simply relying on talent

Personally, I really like Jaksch as a 2nd defender. Weitering/Jaksch would be a great 1-2 combo for years to come should we pass on Carlisle. Jamo 3rd tall and Rowe depth/swingman.

Jaksch does definitely need a big pre-season, however.

Problem then becomes our KPF's. Do we run with a forward line of Casboult as the main banana with 1AW, Menz and a swingman up there? Would like to see Foster or a young 2015 drafted KPF (Collins/Weideman perhaps) or even young SOSOS get a few games - don't like our chances of getting a mature KPF in the future.

One Word... Watson.

Reports from inside the club? Or do you mean discussion amongst supporters and/or media?

One Word... Watson.
So would you be happy with a 22 like this in 2016 (full fitness assuming)?

Bucks - Jaksch - Jamo
Simmo - Weitering - Tuohy
Doc - Gibbs - Daisy
Everitt - Watson - BB
Menz - Casboult - 1AW

Kreuz - Cripps - Murph

Curnow - Graham - Holman - Armfield/Tutt/Smith

This is assuming Yaz, Hendo and Bell go. Backline looks tight and has a lot of exciting youth. Midfield looks experienced and balanced whilst forwards have a solid mix - just missing that gun KPF. Happy for Watson to fill that role until one of our kids come up - as long as he's putting in the effort and kicking a few goals.

Watson has the ability to get the ball deep and long to someone like Casboult if he is playing as a high half forward and taking marks 75-80m out on a wing or in the square. The thing holding him back from being really good for that role is his lack of agility. Those sort of players need to be able to turn on a 20c piece and head back to goal or put pressure on defenders trying to bring the ball out.

I don't think Watto is ever going to get that agility unfortunately, but you never know what he could produce with some consistency and confidence.

He's still only 20 and will pick up the pace required.

Can look a little lazy at times though......like many, I guess. He's a smart kid.

Brisbane might trump us by picking Weitering. Definately hope not but the other guy would be okay I guess.

If rumours are true and we lose all of bell, yarran, henderson, warnock, ellard etc and make plays for those young guys mentioned earlier in Sicily, Pickett, Aish and even Carlisle then we are actually looking reasonably formiddable again.
1st's
Simpson Jamison Weitering
Thomas Carlisle Docherty
Aish Gibbs Murphy
Walker Everitt Sicily
Pickett Casboult Menzel

Kreuzer Graham Cripps

Buckley Whiley Jaksch BB

2nd's
Smith Giles White
Rice Rowe VR
Sheehan Tuohy Byrne
Armfield Watson Tutt
Silvagni Jones Johnson

Wood Curnow Holman

Dick Fields Gowers Forster
Walsh Russell

I could see us winning 3-6 games maybeo_O

Going to throw my 2 cents on what i realistically think might happen end of year.
We start with roughly 2, 21, 39, 57, 75

Hendo -> Pick 10 Geelong
Yarran -> Pick 12-13 Rich or North with possible upgrade of their later picks.
Bell -> I hope stays but hopefully for Aish
Carslile -> Pick 21. Id love to get him PSD but dont see it happening and dont see another side offering more apart from brissy which he doesnt want to go

Lose: Ellard, Warnock, Watson, Judd, Carrots, Yarran, Hendo, Bell
Gain: Carslile, Aish, Weitering, 2 of (Curnow, Weideman, Clarke, Burton, Bonner)in order and just best avaliable with JOS and or Rice.

best case=
Bucks - Jamo - Weitering
Doc - Carslile - Simpson
Aish - Cripps - Thomas
Jacksh - Casboult - C.Curnow
Everrit - Weideman/Burton - Menzel
Kruezer - Murph - Gibbs

seconds=
Bryne - Rowe - Sheehan
Holman - White - Touhy
Boeky - Whiley - Tutt
Walker - Jones - Dennis
Clem - Foster - Johnson
Wood - Curnow - Graham

Giles, JOS, Rice, Dick, Fields, Walsh, Rainbow, Rookie Ruck, Other draft picks.

With 3 years of recruiting done right after that i can see a pretty solid team building. A fair few of the seconds players (Jones, Tutt, Rowe etc) have probably got 1 more year to show something or youth replaces them. Good Young spine and fill it with class ball users and players THAT HATE TO BE BEATEN. I want animals in the contest. Add the odd free agent and i think a fit list could see finals in 3-4 years.

Why don't we leave the discussion about who's supposedly lazy until Bolton has shaken the club through a sieve and separated the wheat from the chaff?

A new coach always motivates some lost players to the next level, i.e. Pagan and Fev. I'm still very bullish about Jaksch, and if Bolton can get inside his head he's going to be a ripper.

Our 2016 campain will be much more positive with Bolton at the helm and the Kroouz ,Murphy, Gibbs, Crispp and Thomas smashing us forward, with some injection of fresh talent too , just can't wait.
Go Baggers

Oi. We need you over in the keep your chin up thread please.

I thought Tutt went ok for the whole match. Sold himself into trouble a few times but acquitted himself quite well. I think that with some decent development into him, he will definitely turn into an upgrade on Ellard (another one that will go out the door come the end of the season I think).

I dont think that he is quite as quick as Armfield, but when he has a bit of time to look around, he can hit up targets with excellent accuracy.
Didn't he stream past Armfield* while both on the run in one of the early games/preseason? Ended up receiving handball and kicked a shonky but effective kick I50. On par with Army's pace, maybe a step quicker.

*Boekhorst if not Army
