Apparently Danger was a Demons fan as a kid. It would be massive for you guys if you could snare him
Well now it just sounds like the chris judd trade in reverse

Inside word is it's actually 1.5mil a season.

And here's a question, if danger turns that down, Adelaide & Geelong still have to match it or he goes to the PSD right?
Nope. If he turns it down our offer is redundant.

Much as I would love to have Danger at the Demons, he's no Buddy (i.e. pulling a surprise announcement out of the bag last minute) - I'm very much inclined to think that the thing about moving back to Moggs whatever to start a family amongst family and so forth is true, and that Geelong is the club he will go to even if we can offer a bigger wad of wonga. If he does plan to actually settle down in Moggs thingy, that's a couple of hours each way commute. I wouldn't be up for it. And if his fiancé does plan to have babies in the near future, I don't suppose the 'bachelor pad in town' option would be the favoured plan.

Either way, he will make squillions whomever he plays for - the guy is very marketable and is a shoe-in for any type of AAFL media career post AFL career should he be so inclined (I wouldn't, but some people are weird like that).

Nope. Sadly, I think we are dangerless.
This is pretty poignant. Huge factor against.

Know one of your board members well. Went to an APS school with his son, very good mates.

The Dangerfield talk is true. He said it is in the range of $1.3 - $1.5 million per year. I ask him how would Melbourne pay that, he told me Dawes is being shopped around and most likely will be traded. He reckons Dawes is on $550 k per year and I nearly fell over.

He also believes Howe has told Roos he is leaving unless he shows him the $

This is one of the few posts on here that I believe. We are definitely having a go at Danger (Whether we get him or not is another question and still very unlikely IMO), and the Dawes being shopped around thing I heard a couple weeks ago as well. Pretty sure Howe is gone, I'll happily ship him out for a 2nd rounder.

It was well known that Dawes came across from Collingwood on $2mil over four years. This could have been arranged to be loaded towards the last couple of years, or maybe there's incentives blowing it out to $550k per year, but it seems a little off.

You sure? I could have sworn he supported Geelong.

I don't know. One of our posters was saying that he was a Demons fan, which surprised me. Geelong are seemingly in the box seat, but Melbourne's offer intrigues me.

...

No. If Danger turns down our offer then there is nothing more to be done.
If a restricted free agent receives multiple offers the player must declare a preferred offer before it is lodged with the AFL. The AFL then notifies the player's current club of the preferred offer and that club has 3 days to decide whether to match or not. If they do decide to match, the player has three options for playing in the upcoming season:
1. Stay with the current club (and possible move as an UFA in two years time)
2. Seek a trade to another club via the trade period
3. Nominate for the draft
Any offers that were turned down by the player have no bearing on the player's options or original club's compensation

I doubted my mate about Dawes but he thinks Goodwin doesn't rate him at all. He believes he is behind Pederson ? In the pecking order now.

I don't know with FA. If Danger nominates Geelong as his club of choice and they put up their bid for him, is that the only offer Adelaide have to match or is it the highest offer?

Landing Danger would be the biggest get for our club probably since Moore and Wilson.

We went out and got the premiership coach, then get an elite player with a league reputation. Would really show that this club is prepared to hunt down the people it needs

Ah that's interesting. So the club has made an offer that is likely only going to be available if Danger moves to us as a FA. A deal that big would be very difficult for Adelaide to match and therefore we could potentially get Dangerfield without a trade.

That being said I doubt he's interested.

Nothing surprising with what you say.

- The Dangerfield offer was a longshot, but his managment has said all along that money wasn't the motivating factor. He'll end up at Geelong.

- Dawes is physically shot, and if we can get anything for him, it would be a bonus. Plus Pedersen just got re-signed for another year. The $550 pa sounds right.

- Howe's management have put off contract talks until now, and probably got a rude awakening when no other clubs were prepared to throw money at him. Doubt that Melbourne will offer him what his management think he's worth, so made end up on the trade table.

I still think either of the two expansion clubs would be interested in him. His high marking is good marketing for Northern clubs

If Goodwin doesn't rate Dawes, then i have faith he is the best person so succeed roosy

If he gets rid of Dawes, I can handle Melksham coming in. Definitely need a cap on the number of high price / profile duds we bring in from other clubs, and we're at my limit.
