I'm happy for him to go elsewhere rather than us sell the farm to get him. Hawks challenging still so will make big push for him... While he's there now, we can grab a KPD down the track. Hopefully their cap helps him end up with us. Hawthorn immediate success, while we offer success down the track.

There's only 1 element of risk in the whole St Kilda/Carlisle scenario, and that is Carlisle's word. I assume there's a letter of intent behind the scenes somewhere.

I don't know how it all works in the world of AFL, but from a commercial law perspective St Kilda would sign a contract with Carlisle that has what's known as a "precondition" - if the Saints can get him to the club, either through a trade or the draft, then there is a binding contract. He does have a binding contract with Essendon until end October, but that shouldn't stop him for signing a new contract for after that period (commercially. I don't know what special rules the AFL would have in place).

@SamLandsberger: Alastair Clarkson on the phone to Jake Carlisle - who's overseas - right now. Bombers want to do the deal. Would deliver five picks in 25.
Makes an absolute ****ing mockery of nominating a club.

Figured Hawks would be in, but if he's gonna change his mind after declaring interest so publicly I think it won't matter too much. Stay the course, pick 5 is, and always has been more important at this stage

It would take a very big back flip from JC for this to occur.... the fact that he actually mentioned that he would have looked at Hawthorn if he was 28-29 spelled out pretty clearly that he was keen to build something with us.

Oh well, if the Hawks pull it off so be it. At least Essendon won't get their hands on pick 5.
One would imagine he'd have to take a fair haircut at the hope of snaring a flag. Will he agree to do so? Is that a driving factor for him?

Pretty poor form by Hawthorn IMO. If you want the guy just be up front from the get go. Don't wait til day 4 of the Trade Period.

As you say, what will be will be.

Hope he comes but will get over it if he detours to Waverley/Dingley (will still have to travel :p)

They're reporting 640k, 60k buys a lot of hair cuts.

Midnight Oil need to release a song about the bullshit that goes on in the AFL if Carlisle gets to Hawthorn. Joke of the highest order.

I am extremely wary of giving any critical info away, but in terms of Kelly I'm not confident. Anything can happen though. Other than that, although we have made a number of enquiries I can't see any other players other than Carlisle and freeman making their way to Seaford. Which is not a bad thing at all as we keep a first rounder
Hey Loading stavro#4 Moorabbin Ghost ... Any inside news on the latest Hawthorn development ?

The Age (Gleeson, Quayle and Niall) reporting all clubs are happy with the deal. It's just a case of Clarkson getting Carlisle on the phone, a la McEvoy in 2013.

Congratulations everyone - St Kilda now play in the EPL.
And we go back to barracking for WADA

One major message to come out of trade week, is to never trade with Essendon ever again!

Essendon just playing hardball. Hawthorn doing what they are able to do.

The fact that a team that's won three flags in a row, the last two GFs by 45+ points, can bring this bloke in, is really all the AFL's fault.

Nah i don't reckon it's poor form by the hawks- all part of the game.
Good on em.

Pretty poor form from carlisle though if he backflips.
