I read some comments yesterday critical of St Kilda's recruiting team. From Saints supporters.

Critical in particular of Armeet Bains.

Suggesting we should've held on to the negotiating genius of Chris Pelchen. And it got me thinking; "Maybe they're right?"

The Pelican has apparently said in public that he'd give up pick 5 for Carlisle.

Now it's theoretical of course, but I would imagine the negotiations would go something like:

Pelchen - "We want Carlisle"
Dodoro - "Give us pick 5"
Pelchen - "Okay"

And at 10:01 am on Monday morning the deal's done. Pure genius!

We've truly shot ourselves in the foot by removing someone capable of satisfying other clubs needs and replacing him with a bloke who gets distracted by those of his own club. How the hell are we supposed to satisfy the needs of the media and opposition supporters if we continue to worry about what's best for the Red, White & Black?

In the end Carlisle is just a player and if he doesn't come to us then we have plenty of options to get other quality players. There's plenty of time for things to happen. Trust our List Management Team and trust our Club to back itself against the so-called big boys.

Gilbert and pick 24 overs for Carlisle? Don't think so, I'd take that and run, but I don't think Essendon would accept 17 on its own. It would have to be 17 and Ross, and I'd still be rapt with that deal!
