He needs tissues...

To wipe away his tears of joy?

Definition of ball magnet. In the allies game played in the midfield had something like 17 disposals in one and 3/4 quarters just know where to go and where to rub

Yeah he got 29 disposals in that game.

His numbers in his writeup in the Champion Data Prospectus are pretty impressive.

U16 champs in 2013: 23 disp, 11 contested, for marks per match resulting in him winning the Vic Metro MVP. He was also Vic Metro's captain.

From 17 games in the 2014 TAC cup: 26 disp, 10 contested, 16 uncontested, 5 clearances - all rated elite and won him the Calder Cannons B&F as an underager.

So much more even spread of talent than our mid 90's and late naughty's teams. I love that it's not so reliant on the 5 or 6 stars to dominate each and every week.

Would still love one more gun forward to add to that (spence is a bit of an unknown)

Periphery, my thoughts on O'Kearns is that he's a top 20 prospect right now who can run and run and run, amassing all the disposals he wants, but may need to show a few more tricks to retain the same ranking this time next year.
Coming year sounds pretty good draft wise
While the top prospects all have flaws in their game or slight weaknesses, it's definitely much stronger up top than 2014 in terms of mids, which sounds damn good to me! I'd be very happy to lose Steven if it meant a top 3 pick this year, yes at his best he's a Best and Fairest winner and a gun, but I'm not sure how much longer he can play at his best, considering his injury woes.

very fair call and i agree entirely

i'm going to try catch some colts games early on this year to see what the talent is like

That's true. Instead of Tucker and Weitering, we could go for Tucker and Burton, switch Bruce into the back pocket for Weitering and have a great talent in Burton as another gun forward prospect. Looking at the development of our list and what looks to happen, I think we definitely have a chance of finals in 2017, especially if we can get ourselves a Free Agent at the end of next year like we plan to and then see what happens 2018 and beyond.

Burton has a badly broken leg doesn't he? Would take him with a 2nd Rounder, wouldn't risk a top 5 pick on him.

Seriously Steven has really only been an established player for 3 years. Are his injuries worse than the club is letting on?

injuries aside he struggles with the reduced rotations and extra emphasis on endurance running. one of the leagues most rotated player/benched player

2015 post season changes:
OUT: Simpkin, Sipposs, Steven (FA), Shenton/Minchington, Gilbert/Dempster/Ray, Schneider (rookie)
IN: Saad, Sinclair, 3 draft picks.
Rookies: Sipposs (reckon he could be worth persisting with), Payne, 2 new rookies

I personally don't think Steven will be a huge loss, plus we should get a first round comp pick, which IMO will be an upgrade.

Enough spoken about Simpkin and Sipposs. Shenton and Minch would be happy to give one more season to either but for list room, at least one would have to go. Same goes with the 3 senior players.

Goes without saying for mine, all delisted should be invited to play with Sandy - build that strong culture, "We'll look after you if you do the right thing by us."

Very good point Defacto, but I think that was also effected by his pre-season and injuries and left injuries. I'm almost scared that if we do lose him, he'll only fetch us Band 2 compensation, after all how much is an injury prone player with below average foot skills worth in the open market? It may be an unpopular opinion but I'd be hesitant to give him more than a 2 year deal.

So now Jack Steven is injury prone?

You know, so is Riewoldt, fisher and Dempster. Even Dunstan and Eli are injury prone. Don't get me started about Wright. Webster - injuries last year.
White, lee -injury prone.
Montagna - played with an injury.

I guess the whole list is injury prone. True, nick dal Santo was an exception, but hey, he's not there any more.

That's probably because he's running a hundred miles an hour all the time. I don't think there's ever been a question about his fitness.
