Reading articles like that makes me wish I knew these journalists in real life so I could pin them on the ground, screaming why they are wrong on so many levels while repeatedly bitch slapping their ugly face that probably their own mother wouldn't even love.

Anyone else feel that way aswell, or just me?

Trade Carlisle and 13 for 5 and 24.

Ends up as:

Adelaide lose: Picks 9 + 13
Adelaide gain: Picks 4 + 23

Essendon lose: Carlisle, picks 4 + 23
Essendon gain: Picks 5 + 9 + 24

St. Kilda lose: Picks 5 + 24
St. Kilda gain: Carlisle, pick 13.

Adelaide get a top 5 pick which they use to get Francis and downgrade 13 to a second round pick.
Essendon get a top 10 pick for two one pick downgrades and Carlisle, whilst retaining a top 5 pick.
St. Kilda get Carlisle for a 2nd round pick and a first round downgrade.

I think this is the closest thing to satisfy all teams.

Treloar doesn't make sense... We are already topping up with Carlisle.

Taking Treloar would fly in the face of our drafting strategy touted every time this year. Left with very few picks...

I don't know, you don't get many as good as Treloar so it's hard to pay overs for guys of his quality. I doubt we get him but it would be a massive win no matter how much he costs. He sky rockets us from a bottom 8 team to a potential top 8 with Carlisle and a bit of development of our kids. It's the safety of knowing you have a gun compared to hopefully getting a gun.

Treloar makes a shit-tonne of sense to me and I've actually been a bit surprised that we supposedly haven't been pursuing him more.

Is an ideal age for us and has comparable numbers to Joel Selwood to the same stage of his illustrious career (which was terrific from the get-go). He also plays the exact sort of role that Rhys Mathieson plays and he's the guy that we're supposedly likely to pick if we keep pick 5, or if he makes it through to our 1st pick, if we trade 5.

About the only difference between Matho and Treloar is that Treloar is 100% proven and would immediately make us significantly better and along with Carlisle and Freeman (if we also land them) give us a legit shot at finals while the likes of Roo, Joey, Fisher and Dempster are still playing, which I think would be invaluable for our young group.

The only downsides I see are that Treloar would, like Carlisle, take up a lot of cap space and would cost us a little bit more than Matho would as far as draft picks goes.

Ie : StKilda offer Lleui a couple of hundred thoushand more than Essendon did as free agent. - enough to give them the next band compensation. ( pick 21 ). Brisbane happy like a pig in..... pig stuff.
StKilda offer Essendon 25( our current 24) and Lleui .
Saints stuck paying the couple of hundred thousand of Lleui's salary.

Don't think Essendon would agree to that, but I wouldn't mind pick 13 instead of 9. The draft evens up for the next 10 or so picks after pick 4.

Adam Schneider has retired and Spencer White, Arryn Sipposs, Tom Simpkin and Daniel Markworth have already been delisted but I’d suggest Lee, Ray, Saunders and Webster are likely to be the ones under the most pressure due to age or lack of form. But given the delistings and retirements already some should survive.

I think Pies offer has been pick 7 this year and their 2nd rounder for next year. GWS has been asking for two top 10 picks.

So, if we want to better the offer, we'd be giving pick 5 and our 1st rounder next year. Obviously, I'd take Treloar in a heartbeat in exchange for pick 5. It is Treloar for pick 5 (2015) AND pick 5-13 (2016) that I am baulking at.

How?

A FA has three options if their clubs matches a FA offer;

1. Re-sign with his existing club
2. try to negotiate a trade
3. enter either draft

Connors is basically stating that Leuenberger will not sign a contract with the Lions & will encourage Essendon not to offer a trade therefore he will go to the PSD. Which will suit us very nicely.
