basil_zempilas was correct about his Lions info with regards to Leppa, Rocky and player relationships... mentioned Cordy earlier...

Seems to have some inside word no doubt.
Based on what? As far as I'm concerned he is trying hard to make something of nothing. This is one of those BS AFL.com.au articles where everyone gets assigned a thing and they shoot the hypothetical. About as much inside word as PattyK was an inside player.

Based on his ability to mention 1 of 13 that some random writers have stated we should look at (purely guess work by such writers)?
Not the strongest precedent.

That's a bit sad. From what I recall there were other teams, particularly Melbourne, who were keen to draft him on the senior list, but under the rules at the time the Swans were able to put him straight on the rookie list, which he agreed to because he wanted to play for Sydney.

You'd have to think that a team that had invested a senior list spot in him would be less likely to cut him.

This on top of Kavanagh being delisted after his Dad scared away rival clubs. Young players are so much better off at the club that values them the most highly, rather than the team they really want to play for.
Perris had no choice given he was from the nSW rookie program he had to go to swans and very cheap too, via the rookie draft

Interesting from Simpkin.

Is there any chance of us picking up Whitecross still?

Inside word from my cousin who was also recently delisted by Hawthorn, Brisbane did make a call to Simpkin last week.

He is a pure small inside mid who can push forward.

We also have to keep in mind, whilst he is 28, Merrett (30), West (28) and Martin (28) are the only ones over 27 on our list and they play key position. With at least one of these players likely to be moved on at the end of next year, he would provide much needed maturity to our midfield brigade.

Craig Lamberts sons have been added to the Lions Academy I see. Anyone know if they genuine prospects?

doesn't matter for the oldest ones they won't qualify. The youngest should just make it in the 5 year rule. More info in the academy watch thread in roster watch

The draft gets televised doesn't it? I though it was on the AFL global stream (I live in Singapore) but it isn't appearing which is odd. Anyone here in the know?

I don't think any of those players will be moved on at the end of next year, let alone by 2017. I feel Merrett will be the type to go into 33-34, while Martin and West are both quality rucks - people forget the way Trent played before the emergence of Stef after he came in for the injured Leuenberger.

Yeah don't really care about whether they qualify for us, just wondering if they're considered genuine draft prospects. Think the oldest one is U18

yes players should be able to play till at least 32/33 years old, providing no injury issues. just got to look at players like hodge, burgoyne, mitchell and harvey playing great football at an age when most scribes would be calling for their retirement. age shouldn't be an issue unless form drops off over an extended period, or you have too many players in the 33+ bracket. you don't want them all retiring at the same time.

Yes, that's right:thumbsu:

Trent West was looking good in the ruck before (whadda yaknow) he also went down.

Stef came in almost as a last resort.

Westy is a more than capable back up ruck

It's just terrible that we received 3 great ruckman all only a year difference between age

Hey, I live in Singapore too. I've watched the draft via the AFL global pass for at least the last two years. I imagine it will be shown again. Probably won't show up until closer to the date.
