Could be your fault
I've got your mob in the North board phantom and have taken English, Maibaum and Graham with your first three picks. Bit of a wait for your last few picks but wondering if you anticipate drafting on needs or just genuine best available at each pick?
We lack players with high quality foot skills through the midfield, a ruck and a running half back. English is the likely pick for us at the moment with our first.
The English opening bowler of the late 60s and early 70s or the 19th century English physician and a leader in the adoption of anesthesia and medical hygiene? Is it just me or does Venables look like John Snow?
By all means. But if we do pick him and he is a star....i want a nice sparkling badge. And $13So we can blame you if English doesn't work out?
There's more chance we take Battle or Marshall with pick 35 than pick 7... Both could easily drop into the 20s.
So here is my current pool of players I'd be pretty happy if we choose from that I think fit our list needs and will possibly be available at our picks...
1st pick (#7): Sam Petrevski-Seton (MID), Tim Taranto (MID), Will Brodie (MID), Tim English (RUC), Jack Scrimshaw (DEF), Griffin Logue (DEF), Will Hayward (FWD)
2nd (#35) & 3rd pick (#40): Cedric Cox (DEF), Josh Rotham (DEF), Tom Williamson (DEF), Luke Ryan (DEF), Sam Walker (DEF), Zac Fisher (MID), Brandon Parfitt (MID/FWD), Bailey Morrish (DEF), Taylin Duman (DEF), Matt Guelfi (MID)
4th pick (#71): Esava Ratugolea (KPF), Rowan Marshall (RUC), Tony Olango (RUC), Nick Larkey (KPF), Oscar McInerney (RUC)
5th pick (#79): Liam Ryan (FWD), Quinton Narkle (MID), Willie Rioli (FWD), Kayle Kirby (FWD)
1st rookie pick (#3): Luke Strnadica (KPF), Jeremy Goddard (RUC), Peter Ladhams (RUC), Jordan Sweet (RUC), Andrew Parrella (RUC)
2nd rookie pick (#21): Marlion Pickett (DEF), Noah Hura (DEF), Jamie Hampton (DEF)
3rd rookie pick (#39): Brady Grey (MID), Josh Deluca (MID)
1st Cat B rookie pick: Francis Watson
2nd Cat B rookie pick: Daniel Cox
Somewhat in my preference order but obviously moulded a bit based on who we select at each pick. I'm sure I've missed some and this also doesn't include academy players that we might bid on if available but expect most would get matched: Jack Bowes (@ #7), Will Setterfield (@ #7), Harrison Macreadie (@ #35), Zachary Sproule (@ #40).
Would still prefer a classy mid with our first but not going to melt too hard if we go another way. A lot of Phantoms have us taking KPDs but I hope we preference defenders with speed and class coming out of d50 more - if they are tall enough to play as a 2nd/3rd KPD then that's a bonus. I really like Rowan Marshall or Tony Olango as ruck prospects if we don't take English, and I'd love to take a chance on Ratugolea, he's raw but that's what I like about him.
Good article about Taranto http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...exas-in-this-years-draft-20161120-gstk3k.html
Draft Quiv
Good list. Some that I like that you haven't got;
Jordan Ridley (DEF), Harry Morrison (DEF), Oscar Junker (DEF/UTE)
Conner Noonan (FWD-MID), Hamish Brayshaw (FWD-MID)
Kim LeBois (FWD), Jack Henry (FWD)
I personally wouldn't and don't think we'll take any of your 5th pick selections in the main draft. Perhaps in the rookie draft instead of your 2nd rookie pick selections but I'd just stick with Grey and Deluca myself and not get any of them.
I also don't think any ruckmen are worth getting in the main draft except maybe McInerney as I haven't seen him play. Outside of him Goddard is the best of them imo and we should be able to get him with our first rookie pick.
I don't think it's something you can teach, that's the problem. They can teach him better positioning etc however it still comes down to innate timing and good hands.English worries me as we haven't been able to teach Clarke how to take a contested grab.

We taught Sandilands how to mark, he used to drop absolutely everything before he learnt how to properly mark a footyI don't think it's something you can teach, that's the problem. They can teach him better positioning etc however it still comes down to innate timing and good hands.
Exactly. But if he can compete plus has ground ball skills then he will go fine.We taught Sandilands how to mark, he used to drop absolutely everything before he learnt how to properly mark a footy
