I really don't know how Hardwick hasn't just quit mid-game some weeks.

The effort from the players at some stages has been beyond pathetic. And yet you watch, the blame will just continue to fall on him. I know he's the head coach and all, but their list is simply not good enough and it never has been. I always said that Richmond making the top 4 that year was a blight on the rest of the competition, not really a credit to them.

Their expectations are too high for the players they have at their disposal. Trade Deledio and maybe 1 other and start again. Unfortunately I think Hardwick will go too. It's unfortunate in the sense that I believe Hardwick has a lot to offer in all honesty, but I can't see him sticking around through yet another rebuild. It's just not the way things are done these days in modern football sorry to say and I doubt some player's will still want to work under him after all this time if they are undergoing change.

They need to do a review and mini-rebuild in the recruiting department, possibly even look at the development side of things and start over. There's still a decent core to work with there and thus probably won't be a complete overhaul like what we are seeing with Lions/Dees/Saints etc, but they really need to build a solid and injury free spine, the midfield has something to work with.

If Hardwick does go, I'd be interested in offering him a position amongst our ranks. Piss Campo off hopefully (won't happen, but one can dream).

 .....Hardwick's not going anywhere .....just signed a 2 year contract a few months back & Richmond will not embarrass themselves in public by reversing that decision at great cost

Hmmm, what happens if Richmond get off to another slow start next season...

When he says stupid things like " this is the best list i've ever had" .....that has to raise eyebrows internally

Fact is ....Wallace's fate was sealed by poor recruiting and even worse player development

Hardwick has one of the best player development people in Choco .......as was said last night though, Richmond rarely have hit gold in the draft after the 2nd round .....and lets not talk their rookie success's

If nothing radically changes .....Richmond Football Club will claim another good coaches scalp .....and Kane, yes that could be next season

This makes sense but pressure builds and decisions get questioned..

Too many more of these losses and they may feel they have no choice

Their drafting and trading at times has been peculiar, as well as an over reliance on bringing in off cuts from other clubs. Constantly adding flankers and smalls when they have an obvious need for talls and another inside mid.

Richmond are a reactive club rather than proactive. They follow Sydney in choosing mid-level discards from other clubs but choose poorly. Hardwicke is reactive in his coaching through coaching against the club he is facing rather than with the club he has.

Media and fans make noise about Hardwicke and Richmond react by re-signing him instead of holding their nerve and waiting for results

What is he meant to say? I don't know why anyone really listens to post game pressers. A coach wont bake players nor will he say anything negative.

Did he volunteer this statement or was it a leading question from a journo ie '' You seem to struggle with the players you have and the depth doesn't seem to be there , are you happy with the list?''

Whats he gonna say?

Completely agree. They've only got two good key position players (Riewoldt and Rance) and everyone else is either shit (Vickery) or perpetually injured (Grimes).

I think they have enough outside players and small forwards on their list (Ellis, Lloyd, Rioli, Yarran, Martin) but their inside core is lacking with only Cotchin and Miles the standouts. Edwards is a decent mid-sized half forward but they need the following IMO:

1 good key position forward
1 good medium-tall forward like McGovern to complement Riewoldt, the needed KPP, Lloyd, Rioli and Edwards
1 injury free key position defender
1 good third tall defender in the Josh Gibson mould
1 good medium/small defender who isn't just a half back flanker but can actually lock down, like Luke Brown
2-3 strong inside mids who aren't discards from other clubs
1 half decent ruckman

That's possibly 9 new players they need

Rance strikes me as a bit of a religious whackadoo. He once said if footy ever came between him and his religion, he would quit. I'd love to know how playing AFL could offend his god? o_O

I would have thought the same about the Crows with Sando. At one stage the idea of the Crows sacking a coach with 2 years left on his contract would have been totally laughable.

I don't think it's cause it'd be offensive, but because he devotes so much of his time to his religion that if football stopped him from doing that he'd quit, rather than attempt to scale back his commitments to the church.

Probably the same as how Ablett gets given extra time off during the week to do religious stuff.

See the thing that annoys me is that no one would utter a word about Bacher Houli and what he does to observe his Muslim faith.

But yeah if it's a Christian player by all means have a laugh, sink the boots.
