Melb took Olivefgr at Pick 6 last year.Pretty sure Oliver is also a 1 position type player like Prestia.
You couldnt be further from the truth.
has kicked 4 goals in 10 games for comparison Dustin has kicked 8 from 16 at AFL level whilst Oliver kicked plenty of goals at junior level whilst resting as a forward.
Same height and weight as Dustin is 18 .

You dont know that and nor do I, but the argument is and has been for 2 days now, our first for Prestia, so dont go moving the goal posts now to suit your argument.
I'm not moving anything.
I'm saying I don't want to trade our first pick for Prestia, nor do I think that would get it done anyway.
There is no argument to win, this is my opinion that is yours.

Hampsons is turning out ok isnt he? Give yarran a chance, he is only 25.
Our draft history cant fill you with much confidence either surely

he is turning out ok? like 3 years after we handed out our second rounder and after we ran Ivan into dust, he has turned out ok yes? Like i said, we can never be smart...we would have had Hampson and Yarran for nothing had we not been to impatient to get back to where we ****ing are...like 2 second rounders for what? like one dude cant get out of his own way and we are paying him for a year while he does nothing, and we could have had him next year for nothing and the other we are playing because we have been as desperate as **** for anyone who is tall that can do somehing other than diddly ****ign squat man Ty.

It won't matter who we trade in, we could trade in ten Nat Fyfes and still be no good. The problem lies within the development of players and having a shit coach with a shit gameplan, until that is fixed we will remain rubbish.

Exactly, the problem with the trade for Hampson was not necessarily Hampson it was the value traded away.

Likewise what was given away for Yarran was outright insanity. Even if Yarran played a stellar year this year pick 24 in 2016 and pick 33 odd in year 2015 was utter delusion!!!!

Those looking at list management as well as value when trading clearly are missing a few atoms in important places!!!

Why is everyone wanting to trade B Ellis all of a sudden? Sure he has gone backwards this year, but he is young and almost made AA last year. He will turn it over. Geez tigs supporters love to kick a man whilst he's down.

Maybe not as is up to the discretion of the committee and they seem to be tougher last year on compensation. If we do get Hurley as free agent we may not end up with any compo.

COMPENSATION

A club that has a net loss of players transferring to/from other clubs as free agents in one transfer period is entitled to compensation via National Draft picks allocated by the AFL.

The compensation formula produces a points rating for players based on:

1. The new contract of the free agent;
2. The age of the free agent.

Draft picks are allocated to clubs based on the net total points for free agents lost and gained during the transfer period.

Draft picks will be allocated to one of five places:

• 1st round
• end of 1st round
• 2nd round
• end of 2nd round
• 3rd round

In applying the formula, an expert committee reviews the formula outcomes. The committee has the power to recommend alternative outcomes to GM – Football Operations where the formula produces a materially anomalous result.
So in reality if we lose Ty and gain Hurley the AFL will take our first rounder so our net loss/gain balances?

Vickery struggles with our putrid game plan. Our slow/sideways/backwards ball movement, overuse of the ball, predictable switching and playing along the boundary lines allow our opposition to set up their defensive structures efficiently. Our tall forwards don't have enough space to lead into inside our forward 50 because the opposition always have men filling the holes. When it hits the deck we've got Jack and two dinosaurs in Griffiths and Vickery/McBean + a couple of smalls trying to trap the ball in against a mobile defence that is already well positioned to run it out with ease. It's no wonder guys like Lloyd have improved this season. We are no longer an aerial threat in our forward 50 and our game plan requires us to be creative once it hits the deck.

Bolton plays fast, play on at all costs, high pressure, create turnovers, run in numbers, go through the corridor, hard pressing, counter attacking football which is a dream for tall forwards because it creates chances from turnovers. Someone like Vickery would thrive in this environment because it exposes defences to deep one-on-one contests.

So that's the reason why Carlton are such a high scoring outfit..................... no wait hold on just a sec......................................just checked and they are ranked 17th for scores, FFS even Brisbane have scored more, in fact carlton have had 312 scores which is only 2 more than essendon who are ranked 18th.
I really hope your taking the piss and not being serious.

Omfg. Did you even read what I wrote or did you just decide to implode?

When did ever I insinuate that they were high scoring? I'm just saying that their game plan would be better suited to Vickery in comparison to ours for various reasons (I listed them if you had cared to read what I wrote).

re prestia .
If taking needs first I doubt we'd take a prestia type in the draft.
Getting all wound up and caught in the hysteria of a name player who is somewhat making themselves available is a dangerous practice and one that screams desperation to land a big fish.
The club has always had a so called mantra of drafting the best available with their first and trading for need.
With a midfield that has only Martin over 185cms and a number of others upon the list who don't have the ability to play multiple roles I struggle to see that a small , one dimensial player is the highest need and I dont care how good prople think he is . The fact is he is small , one dimensial and does nothing to improve the clubs 3 biggest issues.
1. Ability to win contested footy against big bodied mids when Cotchin and Martin are tagged or against a good ruckman.
2. marking ability within forward line.
3. ability to defend against sides with multiple talls.

I ain't against getting a quality mid but IMO they need to be able to play as a one on one forward and as rebounding defender if needed. Sole mid is old school .
IMO , people who are pro Prestia need to consider how he is going to work within rotations and various scenario's within games.

Well it's pretty unfair to expect a midfielder to help defend against a side with multiple talls?
It's also pretty unfair to expect a midfielder to help with marking ability within the forward line?
And your first point, ability to win contested footy against big bodied mids... how would he not improve that? That is exactly what we are recruiting him to do?!

Can he kick goals? Can he be rotated anywhere other than the bench and middle?

I just don't think you trade out a pick 6 for a guy that would be only, at best, your third best mid.

Dont you mean "our third best mid"?

Apologies if you thought you were posting on your main account:p

Hurley is not a free agent. We would have to trade to get him. And that's only if he doesn't re-commit obviously and asks the be traded.

whats the latest on those banned players?, there was talk earlier in the year that they could walk away from existing contracts due to breach of duty of care by the club. Haven't heard the AFL make any statements in relation to this or possible compensation (draft picks) to the Bombers if players are allowed to walk.

He has value and we've got Menadue, Rioli, Mcintosh and Markov who can play his role eventually.

Can see him playing for the Hawks, would be an upgrade on Issac Smith. I would prefer to retain Ellis, gets the ball but needs developing/coaching better to make the right decisions. Still very young and green, plenty of scope for improvement. Retain for me :thumbsu:
