You have to wonder why Vickery is, all of a sudden going to become great tap ruckman, who goes forward and kicks goals.
At RFC,
  • he was lazy,
  • looked disinterested most of the time,
  • caught out of position a lot,
  • gave no physical presence, bar in one game against WCE, and even then was so distraught he spent most of the second half on the bench,
  • Applied zero defensive pressure
  • Showed no leadership qualities
I tried really hard to like TV, but in the end he made it impossible. Good luck to him, but I can't see him suddenly improving out of sight. Hawthorn get a lot right, but I think this will be a decision that they will end up regretting.
I know some will think this is harsh and spout statistics, but sometimes stats lie!

Hawks will want him more as a forward than a Ruckman. He probably doesn't even need to improve out of sight to have an impact. Hawks would think they have enough skill, on field leadership, and game plan and coaching nous to cover most of the points you listed. For all of his failings he did kick 107 goals in the last 4 seasons. That's a big plus for any team.

Think back to late 2015 and the way he played then. He was one of our best players and inexplicably got dropped for the EF. He showed more then than a lot of DH favs have shown since. Again, give him a crack at it when fully fit and he will justify Pick 6. Kid can play.

He wasn't pick 6 was he? I think he was 11 or 12 or something. Needs to develop a tank (sub rule worked against him) and workrate. Great goal sense and ripper hands.... heart? Maybe questionable.

Is he actually any good?
Edwards is garbage in finals, so not like we'd be giving up a ton.

His last 4 games of the year, playing as 2nd ruck:

Round 19: 9 touches, 3 marks, 12 hit-outs, 6 tackles, 1 behind
Round 20: 14 touches, 2 marks, 19 hitouts, 3 tackles
Round 21: 15 touches, 2 marks, 24 hitouts, 3 tackles, 1 goal 1 behind
Semi-final: 15 touches, 1 mark, 16 hitours, 1 tackle

Not bad for a 22 year old ruckman

Yes. I remember many times that he has kicked the match winning or match sealing goal.

Not sure about winning goal but take away his 3 in the first game of the season this year and we would have been stuffed.

Hartlett staying at Port.
Everyone can breathe now.
Although I must admit, I wouldn't have minded seeing him in the Yellow and Black.
I rate him pretty highly.
Will be interesting to see if we pursue someone else now of a higher calibre.
It's looking like Prestia and that's it at this stage of proceedings.

Yep 12. Sorry. Agree about his attributes. Does need to build up a tank. That should come with time and match fitness.

No but if the Hawks snare JOM and Mitchell and get Roughie back and Ty to take some pressure of Gunston we will be in the picture.

I was just pointing out the Hawks are far from cooked.
JOM will be lucky to get through the 1st week of pre season can't see him playing
