Issue with Stephenson type is they generally dont star at AFL level. Reminds me of Hosking Elliot who went pick 3 but hasnt really justified that. I do like him but we need to keep this in mind.

I reckon Stephenson has way more weapons than WHE, WHE is more like an O'Brien type who could be a star or a bust depending on how much he can adapt to AFL footy.

To me Stephenson has weapons that should see him adapt really well to AFL, he's got speed, evasiveness and can score prolifically. He kicked 4 goals in that AS game and set up 4 with his inside 50s all white playing as a mid. In nearly every highlights video so much of the highlight are players finishing off Stevos hard work.

Just for a (rueful) laugh, I’ve compared the U23s going into 2018 against 2012 edition after Rossco left us in the shitter...

Anyone turning 24 during next season was excluded just as an outlier.

~~~~~~~~~~~ 2018 ~~~~~~~~~~~
FB: Joyce - Austin - Rice
HB: McKenzie - Goddard - White
RK: Marshall - Dunstan - Steele
CR: Sinclair - Acres - Phillips
HF: Billings - Battle - Long
FF: Lonie - McCartin - Gresham
IC: Freeman
~~~~~~~~~~~ 2012 ~~~~~~~~~~~

FB: ***** - Simpkin - *****
HB: Winmar - ***** - Smith
RK: McEvoy - Ross - Steven
CR: Newnes - Ledger - Crocker
HF: Cripps - Stanley - Dunell
FF: Saad - Archer - Siposs
IC: -

Difference is like night and day IMO.
The difference is stark.
However, it's unfair of you to compare our current team to "the Juggernaut."

Thoughts on Worpel at 34?

I like Tim Kelly for our 45..

I reckon he'll be a gun, he's not flashy but he's hard as **** and has a massive work rate. I reckon he could end up a Crouch type, that no one can remember why the **** they didn't are him higher.

Brayshaw v Clarke?

I'm starting to lean towards hunter due to his outside game being a bit better imo.

Clark suits us much better. I don't think Coffield or Brayshaw are types we need more of. I'm hoping both are gone so we don't get them. Coffer looks like a talent but he's more third tall defender with run and intercept marking/possession ability. I would say he's more like Jake Lever than Scott Pendlebury. Actually he's very much like a cross between Ryan Burton and Nick Maxwell. He looks good but he's not really a pressing need and probably means we need to move on White and Rice next year.

More like a clapped out Camira...

Nah, he's more like a supercharged V8 VK commodore with no brakes or reverse gear. I don't now if he has any defensive game what so ever but he's a flat out scoring and marking machine.

Dont care who the other one is but if we dont select Clarke, l will spew up......
he played as a flanker in previous years including at the champs this year and had low impact went to tac cup and played as an inside mid had reasonable numbers but kicking was an issue when playing inside mid. Is he what we need?

His kicking looks actually pretty good to me. He has very good decision making and vision too. He as that slippery Sam Gilbert lateral movement too but seems quicker and more midfield than Gilbo.

In space he has a good kick. Not in congestion in the midfield he's tough as nails tho. He's a nice talent but in terms of a need he's probably not it. Very skinny would need to fill out a bit so if we are looking long term for an inside mid then I guess but more immediate near future he wouldn't be our man

We definitely don't need inside mids, we need outside run in the Shuan Higgins, Andrew Gaff, Josh Kelly mould. Watch his highlights, he has real X factor and incredible hands off the deck and exudes confidence. There is something about him the just looks like he'll be a star.

I am not on the Brayshaw wagon, I think he should go after our picks.
For me, I prefer Stephenson, Coffield, Fogarty, and any of the top four who slide,but I expect Stephenson to be taken before 7, but if he is still there I would snaffle him.

I agree, i'm just not sure about Coffield ahead of Brayshaw.

if your an AFL recruiter you could maybe pick somebody.
If you one of the few blokes on BigFooty who are a regular to TAC Cup games you could maybe pick somebody.
But if your just a normal slob like myself and watch 2min highlight reels then youve got NO F*****G IDEA.
Anybody and i mean ANYBODY can be made look impressive on a highlights reel.
Who ever the club picks will be able to play. Just gotta hope the kid has more of a Lenny Hayes headspace than a Caydn Beetham headspace.

What's going on with the Bonar he tops the charts in the standing vertical jump at 89cm but doesn't make it into the top 10 for the running vertical 10th place is listed at 87cm.

Maybe because he is running on slippery boards and is taking it steady like most guys who have done an ACL.

We might pick him or our recruiters may not , but would be really really happy if they do , will find out soon.

all aboard the liam ryan train
Listed as top 25 by IF. Will likely be gone...

Also apparently 179.1 and 70.5kg though, so either there’s been a mistake or the 184cm 76kg on the WAFL site is wrong.

OK question for the guys who know a bit about the TAC cup .
Is Bonar a "Bont" type risk cos he may tear the game apart or he may go missing. OR
Is he a risk cos of his Knees?
Ive heard some pretty high praise about him .
The first IMO.

Matty Balmer said to me that he was Haileybury’s best back in about May, just that we hadn’t seen him yet. Various whispers seem to bear that out.

Could be anything, or nothing, but at least it’s a calculated risk, not a Sweeney or Spencer White.

Not sure if anyone else is planning on setting up a draft on here where posters are assigned a club and have to play the role of recruiter, similar to what was setup here for last year's draft. Shoot through a reply for those who are interested and I can set up a new thread.

Clubs will be allotted on a first come, first serve basis so get in quick. I will be a little selfish and play the role of Trout and select for the mighty sainters.

Feel free to melt as much as you like at my selections.
