Not sure if anyone else is planning on setting up a draft on here where posters are assigned a club and have to play the role of recruiter, similar to what was setup here for last year's draft. Shoot through a reply for those who are interested and I can set up a new thread.

Clubs will be allotted on a first come, first serve basis so get in quick. I will be a little selfish and play the role of Trout and select for the mighty sainters.

Feel free to melt as much as you like at my selections.

if your an AFL recruiter you could maybe pick somebody.
If you one of the few blokes on BigFooty who are a regular to TAC Cup games you could maybe pick somebody.
But if your just a normal slob like myself and watch 2min highlight reels then youve got NO F*****G IDEA.
Anybody and i mean ANYBODY can be made look impressive on a highlights reel.
Who ever the club picks will be able to play. Just gotta hope the kid has more of a Lenny Hayes headspace than a Caydn Beetham headspace.

It's going to be pretty quiet on here for the next few weeks then. Barrels and ARR nodding in approval to each other.

This is true, but what is also true is that many of these packages that are now being put together (in particular by GiantRoo, on Youtube) are "warts and all", where they show pretty much every involvement someone has had in that particular game, not just the good stuff. Hence all the criticism of Stephenson's kicking after viewing that champs game for instance, where he missed multiple targets by foot, while also kicking 5 goals and getting it 28 times.

And while everyone can be made to look good in a genuine "highlights package" (like the ones the AFL put out that don't show the warts), some will still show more elite traits than others. Not everyone who is midfield size for instance will be taking multiple contested or pack marks for instance, or you won't see someone who is slow suddenly gain a burst of speed out of nowhere and burn others off, like some others will, etc. So you get a pretty fair idea of what they're all about and whether they're likely to fit your needs or not.

There's so much info and footage out there these days that if you want to you can make a pretty informed call on things if you want or care to. About the only things that are a secret are how they interview and go in the psyche tests and so-on, and whether they happen to be playing with an injury or whatever, that might be affecting their form, but you will often hear about that sort of stuff as well, so you can take that into account.

Making a call on top 10 picks for instance is frankly a fair bit like shooting fish in a barrel, IMO. Those who recruit for the clubs earn their money if they can identify the Bont from the Cunnington when it comes to them, and nailing the later picks, which are much harder to get right.

I have no idea, but I'll have a crack at the blues if nobody else wants them

Should be easier with 2 top 10 picks

If someone else with more clue wants then feel free tho

Didn't Cayden have a injury or something that gave him chronic pain when he moved to a full AFL load

Sorry mate gringo2011 just got in before you for the blues. Do you have another club in mind?

Can I trouble you guys and get you to nominate your club in the thread that I have just set up titled 2017 Big Footy AFL Draft so I can keep track in a centralised spot. Cheers guys.

He did have a few physical problems apparently.
But i did have a one on one chat over a few drinks with a now ex StKilda board member (thanks to having a mutual friend ) and he had some pretty unflattering and harsh things to say about Beetham at the time .
But there are always 2 sides to the story i guess.

That's why I don't rate Brayshaw that highly, all his highlights are very similar with no real stand out qualities. He's very beige in everything he does. Hunter Clark looks the opposite to that with his ability to twist out of tackles with his arms free and break away with his pace make him look special.

Giantroos highlights for Darcy Fogarty are pretty telling too. He looks a lot less flash when you see the bad bits.

Wanna be my scout for the draft mate?

Between the 2 of us we might be able to make up half a clue
