Not comparing the players, just highlighting that the position is incredibly important in modern footy, and losing Smith is our biggest challenge for next year. I would prefer Gibbs in the midfield, but his skill set covers Smith better than anyone else I can think of.

I'm not ignoring it. I am hopeful that our players will play better than ones from other teams because they are better and play with better structure.

Smith is a very important player. Charlie must have been close to being dropped for about 12 weeks leading into the prelim. I am hopeful that Lever can be replaced.

I think the Crouches will improve more than Pittard, Sam Gray or Ollie Wines. Atkins can get a lot better too. It's still a young team.

We don't have anyone capable of playing Smith's role as well as Smith does. We don't have anyone to play Jake L's role as well as he did. When Charlie leaves we won't have anyone who can play Charlie's role as well as he does. We really do need to recruit ready-to-go quality players. At this stage that doesn't look so promising.
