I wonder why Geelong and Brisbane did not match the offers. Geelong could match and ask for a pick upgrade to allow them access to Watts or Stringer. Brisbane could easily match $700k. These player obviously do not fit their plans. Scott and Fagan know their players and don't rate these guys.

They all have flaws though, that's a fact and the reason their own clubs don't want them. Motlop would have been icing had we changed his habits but no guarantee, whereas Gibbs is still in the hunt and is a sure thing for at least 2-3 years unlike the Port trio.

I would expect them to spike at the start as most trade-ins do, but probably settle back to down to their current level after that.

I reckon Port have done well. They have no first rounder and nothing of any value to trade. FA is their only option this year and they have got them in. I see Rocky as a pretty good get. Motlop is an upgrade on Impey although older. Assuming they get Watts, he probably a slight upgrade on Trengove too. Good for them.

We haven't fired a shot yet. We have good picks. Maybe this time next week we will have a player or two, maybe we won't. Wait and see I guess. Very possible we do better in the long game.

Rockliff - 12 months ago NO-ONE wanted him. Could have had him for a packet of chips but absolutely no-one was interested. Today he's on mega dollars. Rocky and Dixon's off field relationship should be fun...
Motlop - saved his career with 2 finals performances. Rest of the year was atrocious. 4 year deal. Will be good in 2018, fat and lazy from then on. Might be good at the very end of 2021 if looking for another contract.
Trengove - heart and soul (as proclaimed regularly by PAFC) of the club gone. Big loss.
Watts - Will be a really good outside flanker in their SANFL team. Has been pathetic for 4 years. Don't forget that!

Lots of money being spent on some very questionable talent. Massive roll of the dice by PAFC. If it falls apart, look for Kern to jump ship really quickly.

Exactly. I can't think of 2 more maligned players in their careers then Motlop and Watts. Power putting them on good money will be actually quite hilarious

Cmon.. They are better at writing big cheques... In recent memory Mackay is the only player who we've really over paid for. For them... Lobbed Hartlett etc.. List goes on. Nothing has changed.

My thoughts exactly - their bottom 6-10 players are either a veritable potato farm or young, cheap rookies. We've got way more upper-mid-range talent.

Add in warchest we must have a shot load of cash. We signed milera and McGovern but that was always in our planning anyway

We need to be spending some of that cap room on players who can help us win!!!
