Don't get me wrong - I'm rapt to have Weller and Wigg in the side. We're starting to look very good on paper.

But pick 2 is WAY overs for an unproven youngster. You'd expect that for a Martin or Dangerfield.
If Lever or Gibbs went for two first rounders, someone like Martin would command 3 first rounders. Its getting beyond a joke

and we got pick 19 for a 34 year old, Suns need talent now
We didnt get 'pick 19', we got a 5 pick upgrade from 24 -> 19, and then next year an upgrade from start of 4th rd to end of second - maybe 20ish pick upgrade (assuming we finish quite low and an ablett enhanced geelong finish quite high).

That is a very good deal in my eyes for a bloke who could have 1 year left

I don't know if Cochrane had anything to do with it. We 100% know Evans was there. Either way we'll find out when SandyToes has his coffee with Evans :)
Just emailed him to say I'm cancelling
can't think of anything he could say now to make me feel like rejoining
Like I said
No issue with Weller
But in the end we just got told what was happening and it happened
Fremantle did not move an inch

I suspected 2 would be used and said I’d do pick 2 for Weller, although that’s easy to say.

You can’t always have it all, some will say it smacks of desperation but I’d say it takes balls to do we what we did.

Let’s see how it all works out.

That surprises me, weather we are on the right path or not, we are trying to fix the mistakes of the past and i feel the club is holding back on the reasons behind decisions.

Of course it's the two Queensland clubs paying way over to get their players — It's just the way it is. You won't often (sometimes, but not often) see Vic clubs paying ridiculous value simply because the next option is always just around the corner.

We get one kid, who can definitely play, point at us and say I want to be there. We had to take him. The next 'go home' kid for us will be years away.

**** And Tom Lynch, form on field for next year, blah blah blah

Brisbane forced to trade pick 12 for a player who wants to go to them, Suns forced to trade pick 2 for a player that wants to go to us. AFL seemed annoyed last year when we didn't want to bend over to trade O'Meara but now are happy for the QLD teams to get screwed without peep from them.

No matter the rationale about giving up pick 2 , honestly the kid has to be AA or Brownlow material to justify it
Worse he's going to feel the weight of that every single time he runs out on the park

TBH on the rare occassion I have watched Freo games I don't even notice he is playing - he has minimal impact with his possessions. His 20 possessions equal about 4 of Saad's.

He'll be lucky to get in our B&F top 10 let alone get a Brownlow vote.

I can live without success if you can at least give me hope - How can I have hope when we have already handed the keys back to the AFL and letting them make decisions that are not in the interest of the club.

Now I think of my poor son who is the only kid who rocks up in his Sun's gear at Auskick - I feel embarrassed for both him and myself.

Now I'm stuck at work for the next 3 hours while I need to go home to have a shower to wash off the stench of a club who has just shat itself and undone all it's good in the last 2 mins of trade period.

Pick 2 will be a good player and just the type we needed, while we will look at Weller and think to ourselves we didn't need a poor man's Pearce Hanley for pick 2.

Watch his game against the Crows midfield this year. Outstanding and he's only going to get better.
Just paid overs that's all.

Off topic, but what happened with the potential Andrew Swallow move? Was a big talking point early in the week. Then nothing?
It apparently fell over. North wanted pick 80 but Clayton insisted they have our first rounder next year. No one would budge.

yeah, Im rapt to get Weller in cos he looks like he will be a gun, and I would only really rather LDU, Rayner and maybe Dow over him in this draft, but don't let the door hit you on the way out Clayton. F**k me what a joke that was. And his explanation for it with 4x10 top 10 picks last year and 2x next year is BS. We could have had 4 last year, 1 this year, 1 next year and Weller!!

The only good that came from today was the amount of future picks we have sitting their for whoever comes in to replace Clayton. But I don't understand why we can go from having pick 2, like 5 x 2nd rounders and a 3rd rounder to 19 and 3 x 3rd rounders. This whole 'next year will be a superdraft' thing better pay-off. Plus we did a fairly horrible job of clearing out the deadwood.

But welcome Weller. I can't wait to see him in the guts.

Richmond and the Bulldogs were the last two teams to win the flag. There is at least one upset every singe weekend in football, surprises happen all the time. And yet for some reason people have complete confidence in their ability to forecast the future in who wins trades.

It's obviously not great, but cancelling the membership? Spare me.
