2017 Membership - The March Towards 50k!

I'm a bit dubious of the benefits of SC membership, the main benefit of which is guaranteed GF ticket. If we do make it during next few years chances are we will be playing GWS, making tickets not that hard to get. In any case you get access to 2 other finals at least including the PF. So where's the benefit
I got a ticket 4 rows from fence on wing level 1 watching my team win its first flag in 62 years

Thats the advantage

I just logged on and paid my first monthly installment for next year because you've spooked me so much. GA & social club coming out in ten monthly installments. All good. Payment processed.

You have until March to pay the invoice before you lose it as a Bulldog for Life (which is what you do when you opt to pay monthly). I logged in, updated and verified/continued with my membership with a monthly plan off the CC.

The email/sms only went to those members who were not SC or Sutton circle members

AFL premiers 2016: Western Bulldogs sell out premium membership products after grand final win

Thousands of Western Bulldogs fans missed a place at the MCG to watch their team's premiership on Saturday, and it's led many to make sure they don't risk suffering that fate next year.

Just two days after the club ended 62 years of heartbreak by beating Sydney in the grand final, the Dogs' premium membership products have been sold out for 2017.
I hadn't renewed my 2016 SC membership when I first read this earlier today.

So I went online to my Bulldogs account and was relieved to find that a renewal option was waiting for me as an invoice. A couple of clicks later and I had signed up to renew for 2017.

Clearly there are many other 2016 SC members out there who won't have renewed for 2017 yet. Perhaps not all of them will.

And so most importantly, SC memberships can't have sold out yet, until such time as the club knows how many 2016 SC members wish to renew.

And some SC members got a ticket at the back of Level 4.

I was there and that's all I really care about, but the randomness of the ballot process didn't sit well with me.

The club must not let this success go to its head in the way it treats members.

Thousands of members have stuck by the club through the tough times and the 12k crowds against Freo on a crappy Sunday afternoon in July, so the bandwagoners go to the back of the queue.

I signed upgeneral admission with the sc upgrade option.. I did this Saturday.
Why the money's gone from my account there's nothing in my invoice ?

Any suggestions?

That was the whole point of the ballot. To be random.
To improve the seat that you got, you could have upgraded from general member to SC member or from SC member to Charlie Sutton club.

Each of those categories still had a random ballot to determine who got the better seats.

If one SC member got Level 1 and you got Level 4, that is just the luck of the draw.
I had family members that wanted standing room tickets but got Category 4 tickets. The luck of the draw.

Without making the process more complicated I think the process worked well. My only criticism is that the process should have been completed a lot quicker.

Not sure in your case.

My money hasn't come out of my account yet for the renewal invoice that I processed yesterday. The email that I got afterwards said this would happen on 28 October.

Would love to know how many actual members were at the club on Sunday. Surely not 30k

That was a finger in the air estimate IMO. I thought it was more like around the 20k mark in attendance

Just a bit frustrated. After the trouble last week trying to secure Grand Final tickets I decided to definitely upgrade the membership for 2017 to include the social club. I didn't receive any email regarding renewal that has been mentioned on here so I didn't even know that 2017 memberships were even on sale. Have since been trying to get through to upgrade the membership but can't get through and now I read that Social Club is sold out.

Fair enough that those who were already members get first chance to renew but very frustrating that despite deciding to upgrade last week I haven't been able to do it. Now I can't even get through to get on the waiting list. The phone lines just don't work and I can't go through the renewal process because it only lets me have what I had last year and I have to change that also.

While I'm glad that this hopefully means we will get a large jump in membership it is frustrating to no that you have missed out and can't even get on the waiting list because of technology problems.

I've been on a high since Saturday but this is bringing me back to earth quickly. Anyway hopefully it is all resolved soon and we can upgrade out memberships.

Go the Doggies!!

I have a feeling that Social Club memberships were at capacity around 2008-10 when we were making preliminary finals, so not surprised at how quickly they have been snapped up.

We're dreaming if we think we will get 60k members by next year. 50,000 is more of a reasonable expectation.

We still have too many plastic supporters to buy a membership. I have three close mates who all say they "support" the Bulldogs, but they have never been members and probably never will be. They don't even own a single piece of merchandise, yet they were all happy to attend Family Day and finals and I gave them scarves and jumpers to wear.

I'm guessing there are thousands of more "supporters" like that.

Yep agree, 50,000 is a realistic stretch target. There's always going to be plenty of casual fans that are happy to ride the highs, but then forget they are a fan when we hit some low points. Hopefully there is still a decent number of those that sit in the middle between committed members and casual fans that can be turned into the former over the next few years.

This. I didn't even get the renewal email either. I have emailed them and tried calling. I don't even know if mine automatically rolls over of it i need to renew it manually. Better not lose it!

Same boat here. Have not received an email, possibly due to losing my job earlier in the year. Not sure why they would not have contacted me via phone or normal mail - they have no difficulty finding me for raffles or fundraising.

I was one of those sort of supporters only a few years ago more due to the fact I never had time to attend the games so didn't actually take out membership. But once I initially joined as a 3 game member then graduated to family membership then all home games. Now I'm trying to get social club as well so it can and does happen. It helps that I've been able to get to more games and once you get on board the level of commitment grows. So hopefully we get some new members who stay for the long haul.

Enjoy those GF Priority Memberships while they are still cheap and get in quick. Ours have doubled in price since 2008 and still sell out altough now priced $450 - $950. You have to pay to be in the waiting list.
If the DOgs are serious about becoming a powerhouse, your memberships will be as expensive as Hawthorn/Collngwood very soon.

Totally agree. I have been a SC member for nearly 10 years now. I had great seats fortunately, but I know other SC members who didn't have the best in the house. Maybe it's a ticketek thing - they don't have details of how long people have been what sort of members or something. Maybe the club doesn't even have some of this historic info to give ticketek.

I dunno - I just hope we're not left behind either. I couldn't get to Sydney as I had another commitment with a friend. Lots of others couldn't go either. I actually felt like I had let the club down in some way because I couldn't get to Sydney after all the thanks these guys got. I would have loved to have been able to go. I'm not saying it wasn't great so many did stretch themselves to give their support (I mean, travelling on a bus up and back in 48 hours was a monumental effort) and it was fantastic we had so much support up there. But I want to feel recognised for doing something to support the club over all these years. I was there in '89. Put as much money as I could towards the club when they were trying to raise funds. I've been there on cold windy days with horizontal rain and monumental losses at the WO. Stuck with them through dark days. Just don't want success mean the club forgets where they have come from and who was there from the start - during the bad times as well as the good. Finals seating priorities would be one way to recognise this.
