im warming up to the idea of Higgins now as well.

Higgins, kelly and Worpel would be a sick crop of mids . All three bring something different into our middle. Worpel brings the grunt, Kelly brings pace and versatillity and Higgins brings his footy nous and ability to impact on the scoreboard. All three have attributes that we desperately need.

This is probably my dream draft..Along with Ballard.

WEST Coast ruckman Nic Naitanui made an early pre-season appearance on Monday as coach Adam Simpson declared as many as six starting spots up for grabs at the Eagles for round one.

Naitanui missed all of the 2017 season with a knee injury, but joined the club's first-to-fourth-year players at Lathlain Park on Monday.

Chris Masten was the other senior player to join in.

Nine other players are in Cambodia helping to build rebuild houses for a remote village. Ironically it was Chris Masten that trained the last houses down.

This is probably my dream draft..Along with Ballard.

Clarke at 13 and Ben miller towards the late end of the draft would be my dream draft scenario. However, the one i mentioned above is my second dream scenario.

With Venables, Worpel, sheed, kelly and Higgins; we have an exiting young midfield group for the future. Would love to turn parto and Duggan into specialised wingmen and then look to draft a couple wingmen that have the speed/endurance combo.

Damn, we missed a chance to lose Mastern in Cambodia. The AFL might have even compensated us for our loss. First round pick at least.

Very much a work in progress as he's still learning the game. Also a cat B rookie so we can afford to keep him in the squad as he doesn't take up any list or salary cap space

May or may not reach AFL standard but worth persevering with for another year or two

Subiaco take the non extant East Perth midfield to pieces and Ryan gets on the end of it. In periods where East Perth did break even in the guts Ryan's influence waned. It happened a few times, the game would fluctuate between an even contest and Subiaco piling on quick goals.

For experienced defenders our guys also allowed Ryan far too much space as they were zoning off him rather than locking down as they should have been

Maybe the selling of tickets is new but you've been able to attend the draft for a while. I went to the 2015 draft in Adelaide for free.

Would you expect him to play next year? Id be skeptical given he plays more of a LeCras like role, would need to get up the ground to earn his ball more than he does and lacks a negative game. All those things require endurance.

He ran spot on the combine average for the Yo-yo test this year. His endurance has improved out of sight this year.

Where can we watch or listen to the draft?

SEN will have a live draft segment but they'll miss some picks so that they can give opinions on big names.

The AFL website will have a live draft tracker too but it'll run slightly behind SEN.

Then there's Foxtel. They might have some strange format which concentrates mainly on the top 10.

I know this is a joke but it's pretty pointless dribble and tasteless at best and considering we probably have a fair few young posters around here its not really a good look

meh, youth these days are far more desensitised than even i was there age (10 or so years ago). If they have a BF account, they would most likely have an FB account and the things on there would be 100x worse than whats on here.

I think he had a year left on his contract last year, but yea we could have just paid him out. Guess they kept him for ruck/ kpf depth this year, which tbf is an area we are a bit short in. Agree though he’s very, very lucky to be still on the list.

Setting a good example has to start somewhere. I think most of us have posted something we regret. Unfortunately your "meh" attitude is typical of your generation. Sorry for being way off topic and not a direct go at you in particular Vish.

Dont be surpised if Stoddart gets picked if one or more of Bailey, Fogarty, Kelly or Worpel is gone.

I see Partington the same way. And inside mids are one of the things we badly need at the moment. I see Duggan the same but more as a back pocket/half back at this stage.

Lets hope Mitchell and Van Berlo pass on plenty of words of wisdom and help develop our midfield quicker, including the new batch of midfielders we get.

Down hill skier title is justified because of his playing style. Most of his goals are as either a lead up forward or because he got the cheap one out back, crumbing a distant third. When things didn't go well for Subiaco he was exposed, that sort of problem will be manifestly worse if he's in the losing side of an AFL game next year.

Well to be fair that's something that could be said for nearly every forward ever...

BUT as a matter of fact....Subi only lost 3 games for the year. In two of those losses he kicked 3 goals in each, one being the 2nd Semi. In the Prelim final he had 20 touches and 2 goals. He has a quiet GF with two AFL trained defenders almost solely tasked with stopping him, and in the rain, and he's a downhill skier?

What is really poor in the coverage is so much focus on the top 10. I mean its actually not that difficult to pick, one or two slide in or out. After that they go and interview these top 10 picks whilst other picks are being read out.

I thinks its poor journalism and really disrespectful to the other players picked.

Im actually more interested in the later picks than the top 10 but maybe thats because we rarely get a top 10 pick.

On the draft front if we use a pick in the 20's for a guy we should have taken in the rookie draft last year O'Brien needs to be fired on Saturday morning.
